Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic

Tri-Core Projects Ltd. is a Manitoba-based full service civil and environmental construction company that has been proudly operating since 2003. Our operations include demolition, site preparation, excavation, underground service installation, remediation services, telecom, and special projects.

Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate is either a registered red seal heavy-duty equipment tech, or is a third or fourth level Apprentice. The ideal candidate is able to diagnose, troubleshoot, assemble, service, repair, and maintain heavy duty equipment. This includes any mobile equipment and attachments used to construct buildings, roads, or highways. This person will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a variety of equipment, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and to the highest standards.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Inspect all heavy construction equipment to detect faults and malfunctions, and maintain proper performance

• Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized equipment and other testing to determine extent of repair required.

• Repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems using hand and power tools.

• Test repaired equipment to ensure that it meets manufacturers' specifications.

• Create and complete equipment work orders with detailed repair information in an accurate and timely manner

• Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment.

• Service and repair various attachments and working tools such as hydro axe, wrist buckets, and winches

• Perform repair and maintenance work on directional drills, semi-trucks, and trailers

• Attach components and make adjustments to new and used equipment

• Perform general shop duties; this may include sweeping the floors, cleaning equipment, and removing garbage

• Assist Technicians in conducting preventative maintenance and repairs

• Collaborate with team members to complete projects on time while adhering to safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Minimum three (3) years' experience in heavy duty repairs and maintenance (including construction equipment, preferred)

• Possess a strong work ethic and be consistently punctual

• Willing and able to work longer days as required and travel out-of-town for extended periods of time

• Strong problem-solving and time-management skills

• Ability to work independently and demonstrate a strong initiative

• Ability to communicate effectively with crew members (written and spoken English)

• Ability to multi-task and oversee multiple concurrent work orders

• Have a valid Class 5 license (a Class 3 with Airbrakes endorsement is an asset)

• Have basic computer skills

• Criminal Background Check as required for secure sites

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $31.00-$46.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 - 60 per week

Additional pay:

• Overtime pay

Schedule:

• 10 hour shift
• Overtime

• Heavy-Duty Mechanical: 3 years (preferred)
• Automotive diagnostics: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

• Class 5 Licence (required)
• Class 3 with Air Brakes (preferred)
• Journeyman Certification (required)
