Position Summary We are currently seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) - Oncology to work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team, oncologists, palliative/supportive care physician and program leaders to provide direct and comprehensive care and services to our patients. Quinte Health's Dr. Douglas A. MacIntosh Cancer Clinic is located at Belleville General Hospital and serves patients across our many communities.
Quinte Health's Dr. Douglas A. MacIntosh Cancer Clinic includes diagnosis, care planning, treatment, follow-up, emotional support, and pain and symptom management. Cancer treatment at the clinic consists of chemotherapy and biotherapy (immunotherapy). Supportive care therapies are also provided, such as blood transfusions.
The NP will primarily support patients in the Oncology Clinic and provide palliative care in all QHC Inpatient Units. You will use advanced practice skills to provide assessment, coordination and provision of services to patients and families including crisis intervention and short-term management while integrating best practice guidelines and current evidence-based research into clinical practice for in-patient and ambulatory clinic for oncology and oncology palliative population.
You will have the opportunity to participate and lead quality improvement initiatives and make recommendations for change in consultation with the Program Director, Manager and Physician Leader. Your leadership skills will be utilized to provide training, coaching and education related to evidence-based Oncology practice and knowledge among team members. Required Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in the Extended Class.
Master's Degree in Nursing.
Minimum 3 years experience in oncology.
Current BLS certificate.
Oncology experience required, with Palliative Care experience being an asset.
In-patient experience is preferred.
Certification in Oncology and/or Palliative Care Nursing is desirable.

Duties Collaborating with the interprofessional team to develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
Utilizing advanced knowledge, skills, and judgment to provide care for patients in the Acute In-Patient program, particularly within the Complex Continuing Care unit.
Conducting comprehensive client assessments, generating diagnoses, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medication, and performing specific procedures within the RN-EC scope of practice.
Responding promptly to changes in patients' health status and needs, ensuring their safety and maximizing their function.
Leading the development and implementation of clinical guidelines and protocols, promoting evidence-based practice, and facilitating system change.
Lifelong learning and contributing to the learning of others.
