We are seeking a Resource and System Analyst to join our Energy Resource Planning Department.
Under the direction of the Supply Planning Supervisor, will perform evaluations of power supply resource portfolios, lead development and the implementation of supply demand evaluation techniques and processes, and provide support to the resource planning process.
This position will undertake supply demand analysis and prepare supporting documentation to ensure that Manitoba Hydro meets its resource adequacy requirements, to analyze new power sales agreements, to update key deliverables to support corporate policies, and to support submissions for regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

Lead the preparation of the annual Supply Demand Assumptions Report.
Lead the preparation of the annual Available Capacity and Energy Report.
Prepare required analysis and reports for NERC Long Term Reliability Assessment regulatory filing requirements.
Coordinate and perform supply demand analysis of new power supply resources, resource portfolios, new export/import power contract sales, and enhancements to existing resources.
Develop and implement evaluation processes related to impacts associated with existing resources and planning assumptions, new domestic load, or export/import opportunities.
Prepare supply demand material for departmental submissions to PUB, federal, and provincial regulatory reviews related to new resource development and formulate responses to interrogatories.
Evaluate resource adequacy and economic impact of variations in key assumptions and parameters, including load forecasts, export sale contracts, discount rates, capital and in-service costs, fuel supplies and costs, financial indicators, and export rates.
Lead or contribute to the enhancement and implementation of computer tools used to evaluate the implications of alternative expansion options, existing system resource decisions, and proposed export sales.
Provide technical direction and training to staff in the methodology and execution of supply demand analysis.

Qualifications:

A four year degree in Commerce, Business Administration, or Economics plus six years of related experience;
OR
A recognized Professional Accounting designation with five years' related experience.
Must possess excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills.
Possess a high degree of initiative and mature judgment.
Must be capable of executing duties with minimum direction and supervision both independently and in a team environment.
Ability to maintain productive working relationships and interact effectively with others at all levels, both inside and outside the Corporation.
Must be capable of adapting to changing conditions both within the utility industry and in the energy marketplace.
Proficient in standard suite of computer applications including proficiency in detailed spreadsheet development.
Possess an understanding of economic evaluation techniques and financial mathematics.
An understanding of risk management principles would be an asset.
An understanding of the operation of generation systems, transmission systems and power markets would be an asset.
Must have completed Standards of Conduct training or be willing to complete within two weeks of start date.

Salary Range

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The range for the classification is $47.32-$65.33 Hourly, $90,677.86-$125,192.08 Annually.
