Established in 1973, Derbarl Yerrigan Health Service Aboriginal Corporation (DYHS) provides high-quality, culturally responsive primary health care services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in Perth. Employing over 180 staff across four clinics, DYHS offers comprehensive medical, dental, and community health services to over 20,000 patients.
The Position:
Based in Perth and reporting to the CEO, the Clinical Director will implement DYHS's strategic plan across its clinics (East Perth, Mirrabooka, Maddington, and Midland). Key responsibilities include:
Leading and managing a clinical team of approximately 160 staff, including recruitment, training, and performance management.
Overseeing the delivery of evidence-based clinical care and ensuring Medicare compliance.
Collaborating with managers to optimize service delivery and address clinical needs.
Developing and implementing clinical governance, quality improvement, and risk management processes.
Mentoring medical staff and supporting their professional development.
Ensuring infection control compliance and staff education.
Monitoring and optimizing Medicare billing and documentation processes.
Leading data collection, reporting, and achievement of KPIs.
Upholding confidentiality, responding to emergencies, and promoting a culturally and physically safe environment for patients and staff.
About You:
DYHS seeks an inspirational clinical leader with:
Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Medical Director, Advisor, or Senior Medical Officer.
Fellowship or Vocational Registration with RACGP or ACRRM.
A strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander healthcare needs, with the ability to model and uphold principles of cultural safety.
Proven leadership and management experience within multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
Strategic planning, program implementation, and reporting expertise.
Knowledge of employment relations and Equal Employment Opportunity legislation.
Experience in staff assessment, clinical supervision, and team development.
Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills with a client-focused approach.
Strong problem-solving, organizational, and crisis management skills.
Commitment to ongoing professional development, quality improvement, and confidentiality.
Alignment with DYHS's mission, objectives, and values.
