Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Business Planning Analyst to join our Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team in the dynamic streaming industry.
This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between Finance, Business Intelligence, and key business units such as Growth, Marketing, and Advertising ensuring seamless collaboration and driving data-informed decision-making.
The Business Analyst will support the evaluation of business performance, deliver actionable insights, develop business cases, and identify opportunities for performance improvements.
Key Responsibilities:

Business Case Development

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, prepare, and present comprehensive business cases for new initiatives, projects, and investments within the streaming business.
Analyse financial and operational data to forecast the potential impact and ROI of proposed initiatives.

Business Plans and Models

Develop detailed business plans and financial models, including revenue forecasting, cost-benefit analysis, and customer lifetime value models to support strategic decision-making and evaluate the viability of new initiatives.
Perform scenario analysis and sensitivity testing to assess potential risks and outcomes.

Performance Review and Analysis

Monitor and evaluate the financial and operational performance of the streaming business.
Identify key performance issues, trends, and areas of concern, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
Track and analyze key streaming metrics-including churn, subscriber growth, ARPU, and cost-per-acquisition-to link performance trends directly to operational and financial outcomes.
Deliver actionable insights to drive improvements in subscriber engagement and ROI.
Define tangible success metrics (e.g., accurate forecasts, timely analysis, improved campaign ROI).
Track and report monthly performance against targets.
Provide clear explanations for deviations and propose corrective measures.
Partner with the BI team to ensure timely and accurate reporting of key metrics.

Collaboration with BI Team

Act as a liaison with the Finance team by translating business requirements into actionable data requirements for the BI team, ensuring alignment on data requirements, priorities, and deliverables.
Review data reports and dashboards to validate accuracy and relevance, providing feedback and recommendations for enhancement.
Work with the BI team to resolve data discrepancies and ensure consistency in reporting.

Collaboration with Business Teams

Build and maintain close relationships with key business teams, understanding their goals and challenges to provide tailored analytical insights including the Growth Team, Performance Marketing, Advertising Team, and B2B Deals Team.
Translate complex analytics into concise, engaging presentations for non-technical stakeholders.
Craft narratives around key insights, tying data to strategic objectives.
Present beyond static dashboards, highlighting clear takeaways and recommended actions.
Provide analytical support and insights to these teams, ensuring alignment on strategic goals and data-driven decision-making.
Communicate performance trends, business insights, and key findings effectively to Finance and business stakeholders.
Facilitate discussions to align stakeholders on data requirements and performance improvement initiatives.

Financial and Operational Insights

Provide inputs to regular financial reviews, leveraging BI insights and analytics.
Support budgeting and forecasting processes with data-driven insights and models, including variance analysis and identification of cost-saving opportunities.

Data Quality and Issue Resolution

Identify and address data issues impacting decision-making, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of reporting while staying updated with the latest data tools and technologies to enhance reporting accuracy.
Collaborate with the BI team to establish and maintain best practices for data governance.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, data analytics, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
3+ years of experience in business analysis, planning, analytics, or a related role, preferably within a high-growth startup, with experience in the streaming or digital media industry highly desirable or management consulting.
Strong analytical skills with expertise in business modelling, performance analysis, and business case development.
Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Power BI, Tableau) and advanced Excel skills, and familiarity with financial planning software or ERP systems.
Experience with database querying (e.g., SQL) and working with large datasets is a plus.
Knowledge of Python for data analysis or certifications in financial modeling (e.g., CFA, FMVA) is a plus.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and present complex information clearly.
Strong presentation skills and the ability to convey analytical findings effectively.
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Understanding of streaming business landscape, key KPIs and business drivers.
Proven ability to work as a bridge between business, BI and Finance teams.
Having data-driven mindset, being passionate about leveraging data to inform decisions and drive performance.
Proficient in creating detailed models and complex analyses.
Capable of creating and delivering impactful presentations.
