Bio Patent Associate Attorney - Intellectual Property

This role offers the opportunity to work with leading biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, managing complex patent protections, developments, and enforcement for small and large molecule portfolios. Salary: $310,000.00 - $435,000.00 per year
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive patent portfolio management, including development, prosecution, and enforcement across various international markets.
Lead strategic IP lifecycle planning for second-generation drugs, biologics, and international patent strategies.
Perform due diligence, offer counseling on transactions, and devise infringement, defense, and avoidance strategies.
Represent clients in patent disputes before the USPTO, including participation in post-grant proceedings.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop patent protection strategies that align with client goals both in emerging and established pharmaceutical markets.
Advise clients on IP matters including non-infringement, invalidity, and strategic competitive positioning to enhance the value of IP assets.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
JD from a top-tier law school with a strong academic record.
Active Bar Admission in North Carolina.
Minimum of 4 years of experience in patent counseling and prosecution within the life sciences industry.
Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
Proven track record with biotechnology companies and investors, focusing on international patent portfolio development and lifecycle management.
Expertise in non-infringement and invalidity analysis, post-grant proceedings, and IP due diligence.
Skills:
Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking skills.
Strong ability to communicate complex legal and technical ideas clearly and concisely.
Proven leadership skills in managing client engagements and cross-functional teams.
Demonstrated prowess in negotiation and conflict resolution.
