Overview:

Lutron has an immediate opening for a self-motivated, highly technical Embedded Software Engineer. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

Mentor younger engineers as they start their career with us
Dive technically deep into our software platforms
Collaborate with our Product Managers, Software Architects, and Functional Area Owners and other parts of our company to develop solutions to problems
Desire to research emerging technologies to improve our software architecture

We are hiring for these following teams:

Cross-Functional Teams across our Boston and PA locations working on continuous delivery of system features which provide value to our customers across multiple markets and platforms.
GoLang Application Platform Team
1. This team is responsible for the application running RESTful communication from our Embedded Linux Processors to our external clients
2. This team is also responsible for maintenance of back end cloud libraries written in Go
Core Business Logic Platform Team
1. This application is responsible for all business logic on our Embedded Linux Processor
2. Primarily written in C+ with use of other scripting languages like Python
Processor Linux Platform Team
1. Our System Processors all run on a common Embedded Linux distribution customized for our specific application
2. This team manages updates, adds capabilities and functionality to this platform is needed to grow our customer solutions

Responsibilities:

Typical Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Develop customer requirements with appropriate stakeholders
Create system and software design documentation
Implement the solution, unit-tests, and integration tests with multiple developers
Work with senior engineers to review solutions
Resolve technical issues, reported bugs and field issues in a timely manner

Qualifications:

What we need to see:

Bachelor or Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering
Minimum, cumulative GPA 3.0 for all degrees
5+ years of industry experience
Computer Science Fundamentals including Object Oriented Principles and Design Patterns
In-depth knowledge in either C+ or GoLang
Familiarity with testing frameworks - unit testing, automated integration tests, etc.

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

Technical
- Scripting language experience (Python, Bash, Ruby, Perl)
- Systems language experience (C, Rust, ASM)
- Experience with embedded Linux or other resource-constrained environments
- Experience writing code running on consumer products
- Experience modernizing legacy codebases
- Experience with client-server applications
- Low level networking knowledge and experience (network stacks, OSI model, TCP/IP, TLS, websockets, etc.)
- Protocols, serialization format, and API paradigm knowledge (e.g. gRPC, CoAP, CBOR, Protobuf, MessagePack, JSON, REST, HTTP(S), etc.)
Process
- Familiarity with Agile Principles, include SAFe
- Experience with BitBucket, Jira, Confluence
- Experience with CI/CD Best Practices
