About the YOLA Program

YOLA, a music education program of the LA Phil, provides incomparable and equitable access to a high-quality and intensive music education for more than 1,700 elementary, middle, and high school students from diverse and vibrant communities across Los Angeles at five unique sites. In providing this access, YOLA strives to support young people to leverage their learned skills and artistic identities and create transformational change for themselves and their communities. In 2021, the Beckmen YOLA Center was opened as a purpose-built space for YOLA programming and as cultural arts resource in the city of Inglewood.

Position Summary

The Learning Department Data and Systems Intern will support the work in the collaborative learning and social innovation areas within the LA Phil's Learning Department. They will support the work of the Learning Department Managers and the day-to-day operation of Learning programs, with emphasis on data and systems of the LA Phil Learning team. This is an internship for skilled individuals interested in building a career in arts and orchestral administration. At the end of the internship, the intern will possess familiarity with activities of a Learning department in a major orchestra, the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment in the performing arts and the ability to prioritize and react to a rapidly changing environment.

Position Elements

Assist in the support of Learning staff and the day-to-day operation of Learning programs and the Learning department.
Assist in the planning and implementation efforts related to the Learning department special events and information systems.
Assist in the maintenance of systems appropriate for project management such as schedules, databases/lists, project boards, and event running orders.
Provide support for learning department and cross-departmental systems, such as Salesforce, SharePoint, Monday.com, Acceptd, and Clark (the LA Phil's digital asset management and project management system)
Assist in maintaining day-to-day operations, update and streamline systems, processes, and platforms.
Maintenance of accurate data in information management systems in an orderly, timely manner.
Deliver engaging and informative training, presentations, and progress updates
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements

Meet the LA County Arts Internship Program requirements
Must be highly organized, accurate and detail-oriented
Must be reliable and dependable, as well as focused and self-motivated
Should possess strong oral and written communication skills
Works well in a high-pressure, fast-paced corporate environment
Should be a team player with the ability to remain calm under pressure
Able to work cooperatively in a shared workspace
Ability to work with diverse personalities
Must be computer literate (Word, Access, Excel, Outlook.)
Should have an ambition to learn about music education
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with excellent judgment and discretion

This internship is sponsored by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors through the Los Angeles County Arts Commission. 132 undergraduate interns will participate in the program this year at 119 performing, presenting, and literary nonprofit arts organizations and municipal arts agencies throughout LA County. In addition to their full-time 10 week paid internship, interns will participate in educational events as part of the program, which is funded by the Getty Foundation. The educational events are designed to provide interns with a broader perspective of the vibrant arts and cultural landscape of the County.
