In addition to being one of the busiest Emergency Departments in Connecticut, our RNs treat patients with the highest acuity in the region, the Hartford Hospital ED is also a chest pain center and comprehensive stroke center.
The department is comprised of 108 beds, with the addition of a 19-bed ED Observation Unit.
The ED treats an average of 109,000 patients annually.
Hartford Hospital is home to the largest robotic surgery center in the Northeast and the Center for Education, Simulation and Innovation (CESI), which is recognized as one of the most-advanced medical simulation training centers in the world.
Our ED is also home to Life Star the state's first Critical Care helicopter service.
Our Rock Star ED RN's are the recipients of the prestigious National Lantern Award for Excellence in Nursing.

The Emergency Department-based Observation Unit at Hartford Hospital is a fast-paced, 19 bed unit devoted to the management of patients requiring 24-48 hours to determine whether a patient can be safely discharged or admitted to the hospital.
Our team of Registered Nurses, ED Providers, Hospitalists, Techs, administrative professionals and support staff is dedicated specifically to this unit, where we continue to provide safe, personalized, compassionate care to all our patients.
All rooms are equipped with new, state of the art technology to support even the most acute of patients.
This unit partners closely with the Emergency Department team to support patient care needs and department throughput.

The Assistant Nurse Manager supervises a large work group to ensure high-quality, cost-effective services are delivered in support of the hospital's strategic plan.
The ANM performs within the department's goals and objectives by maintaining effective, positive relationships with staff, patients, and families alike by responding to needs, resolving conflicts, and educating employees.
The ANM effectively and continually communicates with the staff, management, and patients/families to facilitate the flow of information necessary to the success of the ED RN and support staff the larger work group.
The ANM reports to the Emergency Department Nurse Manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and/or appropriate certification required.
• ACLS, PALS, TNCC and CEN preferred
• At least 2 years of Emergency Department or Observation RN experience preferred
• 1 years of experience leading employees in an Emergency or Observation care setting preferred
• Strong communications skills required - both written, verbal and public speaking/teaching
