Position: Staff Accountant

Department: Finance

FLSA Grade: Non-Exempt, Full-Time

Salary Range: $27-$29 hourly

Position Summary:

The Staff Accountant reports to the Venue Accounting Supervisor and is responsible for analyzing and reporting on critical accounting areas that are key to the organization. The positions require working autonomously, collaboratively, and cross functionally.

Position Elements:Key Responsibilities:

Prepare journal entries and ensure all financial transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP.
Complete balance sheet account reconciliations, identify discrepancies and resolve issues in a timely manner.
Assist in monthly close process - including preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules.
Prepare and maintain revenue and expense schedules associated with areas of responsibility.

Areas of focus:

Venue revenue - (Walt Disney Concert Hall, Ford Theatre and the Hollywood Bowl) including ticket sales, food commissions, merchandise commissions, etc

Transit operations - including shuttle, park & ride, and parking activities.
Retail - sales, COGS, inventory valuation, and sales taxes

Other responsibilities:

Prepare reclass journal entries as needed.
Respond to and reconcile ticket sales disputes.
Assist with vendor setup process.
Assist with various settlements for events at the Hollywood Bowl and Ford Theatre.
Coordinate with Hollywood Bowl Operations to ensure database of Park & Ride ridership is maintained in a timely and accurate manner.
Assist with the annual audit, including preparation of supporting schedules.
Assist with preparation of 990 tax filing.
Assist with special projects and ad hoc analysis to meet the needs of LA Phil management.
Analyze existing processes and identify opportunities for improvement.

Relationships:Reports To: Venue Accounting Supervisor

Interacts With: Controller, accounting team members, Accounts Payable, Hollywood Bowl Operations, other finance staff

Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar.
• 1-3 years' experience in accounting or finance function.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, etc)
• Experience with an ERP system (Great Plains experience is a plus).
• Must be extremely detail oriented with high accuracy and productivity.
• Must be highly responsive, adaptable with strong verbal and written communication skills. Able to communicate with multiple levels within the organization.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work under deadlines.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

Available to work on site nights and weekends as needed during the summer season (April through November), and overtime as needed.
