Natural/Cultural Resources Specialist (Permanent, Full-time)
A Natural/Cultural Resources Specialist position is available with Colorado State University's ( CSU ) Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands ( CEMML )to provide support to environmental program management and natural and cultural resource programs initiatives.
Initiatives are focused on, but not limited to, Sikes Act, Endangered Species Act, National Historic Preservation Act ( NHPA ),National Environmental Policy Act, Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act, and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act.
Position is physically located at Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson, Anchorage, AK.
The Specialist shall provide conservation and resource management support; technical expertise; technical evaluation of natural and cultural resources studies and surveys; technical review of projects, studies, and surveys for regulatorycompliance; as well as general scheduling and execution of projects and database and GeoBase support.
PAY RATE
Annualsalaryrange $85,000-$95,000.
Salaryiscommensuratewithexperienceandqualifications.

CEMML is a research, education and service unit within the Warner College of Natural Resources at Colorado State University ( CSU ).
CEMML applies the latest and most appropriate science to promote the sustainable management of natural and cultural resources on Department of Defense (DoD) and other public lands.
We provide technical support, conduct applied research,and offer career development and learning opportunities to support resource stewardship.
We collaborate with our sponsors and within CSU to resolve complex environmental issues, leaving a legacy of science-based decisions that sustain our resources for future generations.
• Three (3) or more years of post-graduate professional work experience in natural and/or cultural resources management.
• Experience with compliance processes, policies, and regulations to successfully identify the presence/absence of natural and cultural resources for the purposes of project planning in order to assess potential impacts to knownresources.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
• Experience that demonstrates a thorough understanding of most standard computer programs
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Highly qualified candidates will have a Master's Degree in a relevant field.
Experience working in a highly structured organization such as governmental agencies, the military, or corporations with clearly established lines of authority, procedures, and protocols.
Experience monitoring studies, surveys and projects from initial programming and planning to conclusion of the project, with little to no supervision.
Experience reviewing, analyzing and commenting on technical studies, surveys, reports prepared by others.
Demonstrated experience working with and/or managing design concept plans, quantifying impacts and identifying alternatives to reduce impacts.
Experience that demonstrates proficiency in database management
Experience working with a military branch and/or at a military installation.
