Salary Range $85,000 - $101,000

The Customer, Design and Innovation (CDI) Branch is a shared service centre of expertise that provides specialised functions, including Customer Service Design, Data, Research and Insights, Information and Education, and Operational Policy and Regulatory Stewardship to Te Whakatairanga Service Delivery (TWSD).

CDI ensures work is planned, prioritised, and governed effectively, offering robust advice and clarity. The branch strengthens customer focus, enhances data and insights capability, optimises technology investments, and fosters collaboration to deliver impactful, customer-centric, and future-proof solutions. Through its work, CDI drives innovation and positions TWSD to achieve its objectives and deliver value for New Zealanders.

The Portfolio Analyst performs a wide range of functions and will be expected to work on several areas simultaneously. The most significant part of this role will be providing analytical, planning, coordination and reporting support to the Manager Operational Portfolio Office. The Portfolio Analyst will report to the Manager Operations Portfolio Office and has key responsibilities for:

Operating the framework within which change and change resource information will be gathered, collated, managed and reported for governance purposes.
Providing portfolio risk monitoring and reporting support to the portfolio team.
Developing and updating of Portfolio Governance Calendar.
Providing analytical and organisational support to the planning team.
Gathering and analysing information required for reporting.
Capturing lessons learned and stakeholder feedback on all initiatives.
Using standard case and customer experience mapping techniques to support advisors with identifying suitable solution options for change initiatives.
Identifying actions and assigning owners and follow up on outcomes.
Ensuring that the quality of information residing in the portfolio system is accurate at all times.
Completing tasks with a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and motivation.

Skills and Experience Required

Proven experience of business process analysis and design.
Proven knowledge and experience of analysis and initiative management methodologies within a public service portfolio.
An understanding of data collection and analysis tools and techniques.
Experience in supporting a portfolio management environment.
A very high standard of written English.
Intermediate or higher MS Word, Excel, Visio, Initiative and PowerPoint.
Ability to work with statistics and cost out options.
Excellent communication, self-management and interpersonal skills.
