Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Enterprise Risk Management, our Senior Analyst, Model Risk Governance is a key member of Haventree's Enterprise Risk Management team and second line of defense. You will lead all aspects of the Model Governance program, establishing processes for the entire model lifecycle, including oversight responsibilities, from the ground up.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive Model Governance framework supporting business objectives, ensuring consistency, quality, and compliance.
Perform validation processes for models and non-models (EUCs), evaluating control effectiveness, compliance, testing, and performance.
Manage the model lifecycle from design to deployment and monitoring, ensuring proper documentation and approval processes.
Collaborate with Data Analytics, IT, and business teams to embed governance throughout the model lifecycle.
Maintain an audit trail for the model lifecycle to meet internal and external audit requirements.
Implement controls to manage model risks and drive continuous improvements to the governance framework.
Serve as the primary contact for model governance inquiries, providing expert advice.
Recommend risk appetite limits, policies, and standards.
Manage relationships with model stakeholders, influencing and advising on risk matters.
Provide effective challenge to model stakeholders throughout the lifecycle.
Qualifications & Experience:
Postgraduate or advanced degree in quantitative fields such as Applied Statistics, Actuarial Science, Data Science, Financial Mathematics, or Engineering.
3+ years of experience in model development, validation, or governance within a financial institution, especially in retail credit risk.
Extensive experience in model governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
Proven experience managing various models and EUCs.
Experience working with data services, analytics, and IT teams to implement governance processes.
Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
Proficiency in Python, R, SAS, or SQL.
Background in retail banking, mortgage lending, or financial services for an OSFI-regulated institution is preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and time management skills.
