Teach English in the UK (Summer 2025)

Looking for a fun and meaningful way to spend your summer abroad? Languages Canada is recruiting motivated individuals for short-term summer school placements across the United Kingdom.
These positions are ideal for people with a passion for teaching, youth engagement, and cultural exchange.

Program Description:
Summer English Teacher or Activity Leader in the UK

1. Offer of employment for a minimum of 4 weeks in one of junior summer centres.
   Potential to move to one of our year-round schools after the summer contract has finished.
   This is subject to vacancy availability.
2. Access to ongoing Continuing Professional Development in the run up to summer 2025.
   CPD sessions will be run online, monthly and will cover a wide range of teaching topics.
3. Arrival airport pick up (London airport pick up only) plus 1 night's accommodation in a London hotel/hostel.
4. Online welcome induction on how to apply for NI number, employability session on how to look for work in the UK.
   Travel advice on how to travel to the summer centre.
5. Placement in one of our summer centres, with full board accommodation for the duration of the contract.
6. 1 week's half board accommodation in a homestay host after the summer centre contract ends.

Residential full-board and non-residential summer contracts available at 8 different locations; Canterbury, London Docklands, London Greenwich, Nottingham, Lincoln, Gloucester, Eastbourne and Norwich.

Join our experienced Summer Centres team and use your creativity and passion for teaching to empower young people from around the world! Supported by the on-site Director of Studies, you will create engaging, level-appropriate lessons and lead excursion-based project work.
Help boost your learners' confidence in understanding and using English in real life situations by using the communicative approach.
You will be fully trained and inducted on our syllabus, policies and procedures and will be required to attend CPD once a week.
You will work closely with your colleagues and play a vital role in promoting a safe, inclusive and positive learning experience for all.

Dates range from mid-June to mid-August.

Essential Qualifications

• University Degree

• TEFLI certificate in ELT/TESOL as specified by the British Council

Desirable but not Essential Qualifications

• Summer School experience

• First Aid Training

• Proven experience teaching young learners / teenagers

• Safeguarding / Child Protection Course Level 1 or higher (to be completed prior to commencement of employment).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver engaging, level- and age-appropriate lessons with clear learning outcomes as per the prescribed syllabus.

• Monitor students' progress and provide constructive feedback.

• Complete daily record of work in the designated logbooks.

• Monitor and record students' attendance in the class register and promptly report any absences.

• Complete student leavers' reports and certificates.

• Safeguard and promote the wellbeing of all students in our care.

• Report any safeguarding or health & safety concerns to the Centre Manager immediately.

• Maintain adequate levels of student discipline in the classroom.

• Attend staff meetings and development sessions as required by the Director of Studies.

• Liaise regularly with teaching partners if you share a class, provide handover information to new or substitute teachers.

Compensation & Benefits

Residential teachers are paid £415.00 per week (with free accommodation provided) for an average 30-hour contract plus up to 10 pastoral hours per week.
All pay includes time spent on preparation and attending CPD sessions.
Accrued holiday pay of 12.07% will be paid on top of the salary at the end of the contract.
Each week includes 2 days off per week depending on the timetable.
