Senior Data Architect

Job title: - Data Architect/Modeller - Intermediate

Location: - Toronto, ON (Hybrid-3 day a week onsite with flexibility)

Duration- 12 Months Contract (Possible Extension)

Description

Responsibilities Develops and implements the data architecture for application development in a complex and distributed environment, including the determination of the flow and distribution of data, the location of databases, and data access methods.

Experience and Skill Set Requirements

Technical Skills 30%:

• Experience creating physical database designs and operates and experience administering database management systems (DBMS) including database optimization, capacity planning, installation and migration, database design, performance tuning, backup and recovery
• Experience cloud environments especially Azure
• Extensive hands on experience in Azure SQL Database experience, proficiency in T-SQL, understanding of SQL maintenance and audit, user and permissions management, performance management and tuning
• Hands on experience with the following technologies, certifications are an asset: Azure Data Factories, Databricks, Azure Synapse, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Oracle DBMS, along with Big Data/Data Lake/Hadoop experience
• Hands on experience with SSIS, SSRS, Talend, Informatica etc.
• Hands on experience working with NoSQL databases and formats (JSON, xml)

Experience 30%:

• Experience in one or more programming languages
• Experience with custom build cloud development and microservices based architecture
• Experience with data migrations
• Experience in the use of information retrieval packages and proficiency with query languages
• Experience in monitoring and enforcing database rules
• Experience in Incident, Change and Configuration Management procedures
• Experience with one or more communications protocols
• Experience with distributed data systems
• Experience with middleware and gateways
• Experience with researching and implementing cyber security vulnerability remediation
• Knowledge and understanding of Information Management principles, concepts, policies and practices
• Extensive experience in production Database Administration, Maintenance Optimization
• Subject matter expert in database design of the data warehouse or data marts.
• Experience and expert knowledge in technology and/or application required including installation, configuration, maintenance, upgrade (technology stack) and cloning
• Experience in designing/developing an automated data distribution mechanisms
• Knowledge and understanding of object-oriented analysis and design techniques.
• Experience in developing enterprise architecture deliverables (e.g. models) based
• Knowledge and understanding of Information Management principles, concepts, policies and practices
• Experience in impact analysis, implementation planning and implementation of technology or suite specific patches, maintenance packs and releases, and technology stack patch sets and releases
• Experience in technical design, planning and implementation of specific technology or suite
• Experience with database administration and working with vendors

Communication Skills (10%)

• Strong communication skills to prepare documentation, including but not limited to: solution documentation, user manuals, reports, reviews, assessments
• Ability to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively and in a user-friendly manner; maintain a high level of customer service to both internal and external clients
• Ability to communicate technical designs and development in clear and understandable manner
