Senior Systems Engineer - BERMUDA!

Relocate to a sub-tropical, mid-Atlantic Island paradise. Bermuda is located only 1.5 hours flight time from the Eastern Seaboard and only 2.5 hours flight from Toronto. This idyllic Island is considered to be one of the most desirable locations in the world to live and work.

As a Microsoft Partner, they also specialize in the latest Microsoft 365 technologies, ensuring their customers have the tools they need to thrive in a secure and efficient digital environment.

On their behalf, we are seeking a qualified individual for the role of Senior Systems Engineer. This is a full-time role, based on-site in Bermuda.

The post holder will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust IT systems across diverse client environments. They will manage complex Microsoft 365 ecosystems, optimize network configurations, and ensure seamless operation of critical systems. A strong commitment to documentation and the flexibility to work non-standard hours when needed is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

Microsoft 365 Expertise:
Manage the full suite of Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, Purview, SharePoint, Teams, Intune, and advanced security configurations.
System Design & Implementation:
Design, deploy, and maintain IT infrastructure solutions, including servers, networks, and hybrid/cloud environments.
Network Administration:
Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot networks, including VPNs, VLANs, and security policies.
Documentation:
Create, maintain, and update thorough documentation in our customer CMDB for system configurations, processes, and procedures.
Advanced Troubleshooting:
Resolve escalated issues from junior engineers across a range of systems, applications, and networks.
Backup & Disaster Recovery:
Implement and manage backup solutions, such as Veeam, Backup Exec, and cloud backups, ensuring data integrity and recovery readiness.
Security & Compliance:
Strengthen cybersecurity posture with tools like Fortinet, Microsoft Defender, and SonicWall, ensuring alignment with PIPA standards. Knowledge of NIST or ISO 27001 is advantageous.
Project Support:
Deliver on large-scale system migration and upgrade projects within agreed timelines and budgets.
Collaboration & Mentorship:
Guide junior engineers, helping maintain a culture of continuous learning and operational excellence.
Client Interaction:
Engage with clients when required to clarify technical issues or provide updates on project progress.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in information technology or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Microsoft certifications (e.G., MS-100, MS-101, AZ-104, SC-200, or SC-300).
Additional certifications would be a plus (e.G., Veeam, VMware, Fortinet).

Experience & Technical Skills:

7+ years of hands-on experience as a Systems Engineer or in a similar role - ideally with experience in an MSP / IT Consultancy environment.
Extensive experience with Microsoft 365 solutions (administration, deployment, and troubleshooting).
Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and Azure AD.
Strong focus on compliance tools within Microsoft 365, such as Purview and Data Loss Prevention (DLP).
Expertise in networking concepts, including VLANs, routing, and switching.
Familiarity with RMM monitoring solutions.
