Sobeys is full of exciting opportunities, and we are looking for top talent to join our team! We have a full-time opportunity for an Assistant Category Manager.

Reporting to the Category Manager, the incumbent will support the development and management of merchandising programs as well as execution of category strategy. This is a hybrid role. There is an in-office requirement of 3 days a week.

Here's where you'll be focusing:

• Develop a deep understanding of designated categories, market trends and consumer behavior
• Be accountable for the product, placement, pricing and promotion for items within their categories, consistent with each banner strategy
• Ensure promotions are keyed with accuracy.
• Ensure Pricing and costing is up to date in system.
• Respond to customer needs in their category, and is responsible for developing and executing customer relevant strategies
• Negotiate the lowest cost of goods and achieves sales and profit targets
• Review and analyze margins, deals, retail savings, pricing reference article, forecasts, units of measure, cost,
• pages and sales sets for accuracy
• Review Agency Business report daily and review discrepancies with Category Manager
• Communicate with Replenishment Team with respect to inventory management
• Review competitive price check and take appropriate action on weekly price change report
• Assist with the resolution of pricing issues
• Review vendor submissions and new article listing reports
• Assist in ad creation and ad proofing processes
• Respond to requests to meet customer needs
• Identify opportunities and expedite category plans with operational support

What you have to offer:

• 3+ years of experience in a similar role
• Previous experience working in the retail industry; grocery industry preferred
• Ability to leverage technology (SAP, Microsoft Office suite and other) to review and analyze large volumes of data
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the business (oral & written)

The salary range for this position inBritish Columbiais$61,000.00- $83,000.00. We will consider factors such as your working location, work experience and skills as well as internal equity, and market conditions to ensure that you are paid fairly and competitively.
