New Value Solutions, a national IT consulting company, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Jira Consultant to conduct an in-depth assessment of an existing Jira environment-originally configured on-premise and recently migrated to the cloud.

The ideal candidate will diagnose issues, such as discrepancies in time tracking with Tempo Time Sheets, evaluate the current configuration, ensure the base is properly set up, and advise on the integration of new capacity planning add-ons and Jira Product Discovery. This role requires a deep understanding of Jira configurations and integrations within a modern, agile project management environment.

Responsibilities

Conduct a comprehensive review of the existing Jira configuration, including custom fields, workflows, and integrations.
Identify and troubleshoot issues, such as why estimated time is not showing up in Tempo Time Sheets reports.
Recommend and implement targeted configuration tweaks (e.g., addition of new fields, adjustments to workflows).
Ensure a robust foundational setup for the Jira cloud instance.
Evaluate potential add-ons for capacity planning, such as:

Tempo Capacity Planner.
Sprint Capacity Planning and Tracking.
Team Planner - resource planning and capacity.

Set up and potentially integrate Jira Product Discovery to expand the organization's ability to manage projects and resource capacity.
Document current configurations, pain points, and recommended improvements.
Provide clear, actionable reports and guidance to internal teams and stakeholders.
Advise on industry best practices for configuring and leveraging Jira in a modern project management and capacity planning context.
Offer insights to ensure the Jira setup remains scalable and user-friendly for the entire organization.
Communicate effectively on a T&M basis, ensuring transparent tracking of efforts and outcomes.

Requirements:

5+ years of experience with Jira Software, both on-premise and Jira Cloud.
Hands-on experience with configuring, customizing, and troubleshooting Jira, including custom fields and workflow optimizations.
Strong familiarity with Tempo Time Sheets, including resolving discrepancies with estimated versus actual time reporting.
Experience working with capacity planning add-ons and evaluating options (i.e., Tempo Capacity Planner, Sprint Capacity Planning & Tracking, Team Planner).
Previous experience with Jira add-ons like Xray for testing and Jira Product Discovery is highly desirable.
Familiarity with integrations involving Bitbucket or other source control systems.
Demonstrated ability to assess complex systems, produce actionable recommendations, and work in a T&M engagement model.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills to effectively articulate technical issues and solutions to non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced environment.
