Our client, an expanding energy company based in Calgary, AB, is dedicated to evaluating and developing its properties with an innovative and responsible multi-decade approach. Our client is seeking a dynamic Operations Engineer to lead engineering workflows, support day-to-day operational execution, and ensure smooth integration of engineering and site activities. This is a hybrid role combining process engineering, commissioning, and operational responsibilities with leadership exposure.
You will be based in Calgary during the engineering phase of the project and then transition to a rotational schedule at the site in Saskatchewan to support construction, commissioning, and operations. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, a solution-focused mindset, and a drive for continuous improvement.
Engineering & Technical Support
• Provide operational engineering support to project design and execution teams
• Develop and lead readiness plans to transition from project to operations
• Contribute technical input to construction and commissioning planning
• Liaise with licensors and project engineering teams to ensure operational alignment
Operations & Commissioning
• Monitor and optimize process performance to improve efficiency and safety
• Support start-up, testing, and commissioning activities with hands-on engineering oversight
• Ensure operational integration of engineering designs
• Act as the technical point of contact for deliverables, milestones, and performance tracking
Risk Management & Compliance
• Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies
• Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and environmental requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering
• Minimum of 7 years of engineering experience, with exposure to operations preferred
• Prior involvement in commissioning or start-up projects is considered a strong asset
Technical Proficiency: Expertise in engineering principles, operations management, and industry regulations.
• Strategic Thinking: Strong planning and organizational skills to align projects with long-term goals.
• Adaptability: Flexibility to manage shifting priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Planning & organizing - Proactively plans and organizes documents in accordance with programs
• Risk Management - Recognizes potential risks in documentation and processes and ensures clarity to mitigate those risks.
This is a safety-sensitive role and requires passing a pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol test
• Occasional interprovincial and international travel may be required
