Hotel Morris | Pitt Street, Haymarket

Housed in a striking Italian Renaissance building with Art Deco influences, Morris has been revitalized as an evocative bar and 82-room boutique hotel. The hotel features a chic ground-floor wine bar focusing on Australian and Italian wines.

Imagine yourself as the Assistant Manager, leading our boutique-style hotel. You will be a key part of our team, embodying the spirit of Morris.

All About the Role

As an Assistant Manager at Morris, you will oversee the daily operations of the hotel, including Front Office and Food & Beverage.

Additional Information

Hotel Morris has 82 rooms and opened in June 2023.

We have a small, family-like team where everyone supports each other.

The successful candidate should speak English, have relevant experience, and be passionate about guest satisfaction, maintaining cleanliness, and leading a team, especially on weekends when the housekeeping manager is away or on leave.

You must be able to work a flexible roster, including weekends.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, your responsibilities will include:

Overseeing operations and maintaining a visible presence in Front Office and guest contact areas.
Assisting with overnight emergency situations, including Night Audit coverage.
Reviewing arrival lists, anticipating guest needs, and liaising with departments to ensure exceptional service.
Greeting VIP guests and attending to special requests.
Maintaining knowledge of room types, hotel facilities, and services.
Ensuring adequate staffing levels across departments.
Resolving major complaints and communicating issues to management.
Managing emergency situations, leading staff, and completing incident reports. All Duty Managers are Fire Wardens.
Keeping current on hotel services and guest activities to promote offerings.
Conducting security and fire evacuation training with the Chief Engineer and ensuring security procedures are followed.
Leading shift briefings, ensuring effective handovers, and maintaining Duty Manager logs.
Assisting with publishing rosters and submitting payroll.
Controlling the Duty Manager and Reception floats.

Qualifications

Previous experience in a similar role is essential.
Strong commitment to customer service excellence.
High grooming and personal presentation standards.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Opera PMS.
RSA & First Aid certification.
Attention to detail, flexibility, and reliability.
