What will your typical day look like?

As a performance test Engineer, you will;

• Review test plans and requirements to understand the scope of performance testing activities.

• Set up and configure test environments to mirror production settings accurately.

• Design performance test scenarios based on application usage patterns and requirements.

• Develop performance test scripts using tools like JMeter, LoadRunner, or Gatling.

• Execute performance tests, monitoring system resources and response times during testing.

• Analyse test results to identify performance bottlenecks and issues.

• Collaborate with development teams to troubleshoot and resolve performance-related issues.

• Provide recommendations for optimizing application performance based on test findings.

• Monitor application performance in pre-production and production environments.

• Document test results, recommendations, and changes made for future reference.

• Participate in meetings with project teams, developers, and stakeholders.

• Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in performance testing.

• Provide regular status updates on performance testing progress to stakeholders.

• Participate in retrospectives to identify areas for process improvement.

• Maintain performance testing documentation, including test plans and scripts.

Required interpersonal skills/experience

• Experience with both waterfall and agile testing methodologies

• Critical thinking experience, ability to analyse and make informed decisions.

• Good communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal, ability to negotiate and influence both internal and external customers

• Demonstrate resourcefulness and adaptability

• Desire to learn, innovate and think out of the box

• Strong work ethic and positive attitude

Required role specific skills/experience

• Significant experience in performance test planning, workload modelling, capacity planning, scalability and stability testing, and stress testing of small to large scale applications

• Experience diagnosing performance issues, and recommending and implementing performance tuning and risk mitigation approaches to address them

• Performance testing experience across multiple platform architectures and technologies such as micro-services, APIs, databases, message queues, FTP etc.

• Experience performance testing enterprise applications including Salesforce, SAP, Workday.

• REST APIs is advantageous, as is an exposure to moving workloads to cloud environments including (AWS, GCP, or Azure)

• Strong analytical and diagnostic skills, exceptional attention to details.

• 5+ years of experience in developing dynamic performance testing suites using at least 2 of the performance test tools - Apache Jmeter, Gatling, Artillery, MicroFocus LoadRunner

• Experience monitoring application Performance using one of the following Observability tools: Dynatrace, NewRelic, AppDynamics, Splunk, Sumo Logic etc.

• Understanding of resilience testing and site reliability practices including Failover/DR testing.

• Experience with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, DevOps, automation, cloud technology
