We operate NATA accredited (ISO/IEC 17025) coal laboratories servicing major Australian coal ports and are involved in coal export supervision, quality control at mine sites and power plants, and borecore evaluation.
Join SGS in Gladstone, QLD, on a casual basis to learn about coal sampling and testing. This is a great opportunity to join our Gladstone team as a Casual Coal Technician.
Responsibilities include:
Conduct physical coal testing and analysis of routine samples accurately.Ensure the accuracy, precision, and traceability of samples.Receipt, record, sort, and store coal samples as required.Assist with preventative maintenance of laboratory equipment.Plan shift workflow and coordinate sample pick-ups and analysis.Follow analytical methods, procedures, and SGS Quality Systems.Maintain a safe working environment.QualificationsIdeal candidates will have experience in semi-manual or industrial environments and be hands-on.
SGS provides full training and on-the-job learning.
Additional qualifications include:
Coal sampling, preparation, and testing experience (desirable but not mandatory).Experience in a mineral laboratory environment (preferred).Good computer skills, especially in Excel (G6 preferred but not essential).Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.Ability to work under pressure.Additional InformationWhy work for SGS?
