The position works as a trainee mental health clinician within the Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD), Mental Health Services (MHS) and is required to undertake the Bachelor of Health Science (Mental Health) degree whilst working under supervision within a multidisciplinary team.This position will undertake clinical placements across a number of WSLHD inpatient and community MHS settings to enable the development of the skills, knowledge, and competencies required to be a knowledgeable and skilled mental health worker.
Duties include mental health assessments, care planning and interventions, referral to and brokerage of services from other providers to meet the needs of the consumer.Qualifications:

A commitment to the improvement of health care of Aboriginal peoples in contact with the WSLHD.Selection Criteria:
Identifies as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent with established links with their local Aboriginal community.Demonstrated knowledge of and/or experience working within Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities and knowledge and understanding of the Aboriginal culture and the social and emotional issues experienced by the Aboriginal people.An understanding of the health needs of Aboriginal peoples and a commitment to the improvement of health care of Aboriginal peoples in contact with the mental health system.Willingness and commitment to undertake and successfully achieve academic performance in the Bachelor of Health Science (Mental Health) course currently located at Charles Sturt University Wagga Wagga including undertaking travel for training and to attend University residential teaching blocks and placements.Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise work and study activities.Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.Good written and oral communication skills and basic computer literacy or willingness to undertake training.Current Australian Drivers Licence and willingness to use same for work purposes.Closing Date:
