TheAmerican University in the Emirates (AUE) is seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to fill the role of Dean of the College of Security and Global Studies (CSGS). This position is pivotal in providing visionary leadership and strategic direction to the college, ensuring academic excellence, fostering research and innovation, and building strong partnerships with government agencies, international organizations, and industry leaders.

Purpose

Responsible for providing a clear leadership vision to the college by liaising with industries and government sectors in collaboration with faculty, senior leadership, and community stakeholders.

Summary

The Dean of the College of Security and Global Studies is the chief academic and administrative officer of the college, responsible for providing visionary leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight. The Dean advances excellence in security studies, international relations, and global policy while ensuring alignment with the university's mission and goals. The role includes faculty development, curriculum enhancement, research initiatives, industry and government collaboration, student success programs, and resource management.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

• Ph. D. in Security and Global Studies from an internationally accredited university.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in academic leadership at the level of Associate Dean or higher at an accredited university.
• Experience in the development of new programs that meet international standards.
• A record of professional accomplishment, including peer-reviewed publications.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with accreditation processes relevant to security studies, international relations, and global affairs.
• Knowledge of emerging trends in security, geopolitics, cyber intelligence, and global policy.
• Expertise in fundraising, grant writing, and budget management.
• Strong connections with government agencies, international organizations, and industry leaders to foster strategic partnerships.

• Faculty Development:
• Recruit, mentor, and support faculty members in their teaching, research, and professional growth.
• Foster a collaborative and inclusive academic environment.
• Research & Innovation:
• Promote a strong research culture, encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration and securing external funding.
• Support faculty and student research initiatives.
• Student Success:
• Enhance student engagement, retention, and career development through innovative academic and professional programs.
• Ensure students are well-prepared for careers in security, global studies, and international relations.
• Partnerships & Collaboration:
• Establish and maintain relationships with government agencies, international organizations, and industry leaders.
• Enhance academic and research opportunities through strategic partnerships.
• Resource Management:
• Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and operational management to ensure efficient resource allocation.
• Manage the college's resources effectively to support its mission and goals.
• Global Engagement:
• Promote international collaborations, study abroad programs, and cross-border initiatives.

• Diversity & Inclusion:
• Champion equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives within the college's faculty, staff, and student body.

• Policy & Compliance:
• Ensure adherence to institutional policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain compliance with both local and international accreditation bodies.
• Advancement and Fundraising:
• Identify and secure funding from various sources to support the university's mission.
• Cultivate relationships with current and prospective donors to ensure continued support.
