Head of Credit - GRE, Real Estate & Energy

Job Purpose

The Senior Credit Manager is responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments of credit proposals primarily related to Government Related Entities (GREs). These proposals are typically complex, high in value, and may involve multiple entities across various sectors. The role requires advanced analytical and investigative skills to evaluate credit risk, forming the foundation for credit decision-making. This position often involves working under pressure due to tight deadlines, complex structures, high exposure levels, and the need to interact with demanding stakeholders.

Principal Accountabilities & Key Performance Indicators

Review credit proposals for GRE clients to ensure completeness of documentation and compliance with internal requirements.
Conduct thorough analysis based on:
Fundamental principles of lending
Internal credit policies and procedures
Regulatory frameworks, including UAE Central Bank guidelines
Perform in-depth due diligence to identify gaps or missing information in proposals.
Prepare concise and well-structured credit summaries for submission to Credit Committees and other decision-making forums.
Respond to follow-up queries from Credit Committee or senior management.
Exercise delegated credit approval authority as per approved matrices.
Assist the Unit Head and Head of Wholesale Credit on various ad-hoc initiatives aimed at enhancing credit processes.
Actively engage in credit portfolio reviews and monitoring activities.
Maintain the quality of the assigned credit portfolio and escalate any emerging concerns in a timely manner.

Key Performance Indicators:

Quality and completeness of credit proposals reviewed
Thoroughness and insightfulness of analysis
Timeliness in addressing follow-ups and submitting assessments
Adherence to internal SLAs and turnaround time targets
Compliance with internal and regulatory guidelines

Job RequirementsQualifications:

Master's degree in Business Administration or Commerce

Experience:

10-12 years of corporate banking experience, including at least 7 years in a corporate credit function

Skills:

Proficient in written and spoken English
Strong analytical, report writing, and presentation skills
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general MS Office tools
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
Effective stakeholder management and communication skills
High level of professional commitment and integrity
