Establish and govern data governance implementation roadmap, including development of data dictionaries, metadata repositories, and data lineage. Collaborate with IT to provide progress reports to the Board and oversee periodic updates to the Department Data Governance Roadmap.
Data Quality Management:
Define and implement data quality standards and metrics, focusing on protecting sensitive data through modifications to organizational policies, standards, principles, governance metrics, processes, related tools, and data architecture.
Monitor and assess data quality across the organization, identifying and addressing issues.
Lead data quality improvement initiatives and collaborate with data stewards to resolve data-related issues.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
Engage with business stakeholders to understand data needs and ensure data governance processes meet these needs.
Serve as a liaison between Business, Functional areas, and Technology to clearly define, communicate, and consider data-related business requirements for protecting sensitive data during operational planning.
Facilitate data governance councils or committees, assisting the CDO in leading meetings and discussions on data policies, risk mitigation, and alignment with business goals.
Compliance and Risk Management:
Ensure compliance with data protection regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, industry standards, and internal policies.
Identify and mitigate data risks through governance and quality control measures.
Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure ongoing compliance.
Data Stewardship:
Establish and manage a network of data stewards across the organization.
Provide training and support to ensure consistent application of data governance practices.
Oversee maintenance of data dictionaries, metadata repositories, and data lineage documentation.
Tools and Technology:
Evaluate and implement data governance and quality tools and technologies.
Collaborate with IT to ensure integration of data governance tools with existing systems.
Manage data governance toolsets and train users.
Reporting and Metrics:
Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to track governance and quality metrics.
Continuously improve data governance practices by staying updated with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes to keep the framework current and effective.
Job Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field; Master's preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 10 years in a major services organization with large-scale data or project management experience, including 8 years in a senior management role with Board-level change or transformation leadership.
Knowledge of data quality, data protection management practices, and data governance.
Understanding of data-related government regulations and emerging trends.
Strong consulting skills, including change management, communication, culture change, and performance measurement.
Knowledge of risk data architecture and technological solutions.
Recognized as a subject matter expert influencing industry practices.
