Roles and responsibilities
Review and implement project environmental studies such as HSIEA, PER, EIA, etc.
Prepare necessary environmental management submittals for tenders and proposals, aligned with client requirements and NMDC EMS.
Review and coordinate with local authorities regarding environmental permits.
Design and implement project environmental management plans in accordance with client needs and study recommendations, in collaboration with project management.
Conduct internal management system audits and subcontractor audits to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
Perform environmental aspect and impact assessments for project activities.
Conduct environmental awareness and training sessions.
Support environmental officers and project managers in adhering to Environmental Management Plans.
Report environmental issues on projects to the Environmental Superintendent.
Investigate incidents and accidents, reporting findings to the Environmental Superintendent.
Monitor and review the performance of Environmental Officers in projects.
Ensure procedures are followed and corrective actions are implemented for non-conformities and deficiencies.
Report on the performance of the Health, Safety, and Environmental Management System (HS EMS) to top management periodically and during reviews.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental Science or equivalent
NEBOSH / IOSH / OSHA / OSHAD or equivalent certifications
Certification in HSE Audit is advantageous
At least 6 years of relevant industry experience
Flexible regarding work location (offshore or onshore)
Desired candidate profile
Advanced Environmental Knowledge
Deep understanding of environmental regulations (e.g., Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, NEPA) and sustainability practices.
Knowledge of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and their application.
Expertise in pollution control technologies, waste management, water treatment, air quality monitoring, and conservation.
Design and Implementation of Environmental Solutions
Ability to design water and wastewater treatment systems, air pollution control, waste disposal, and energy-efficient solutions.
Experience with renewable energy solutions (solar, wind) and sustainable building certifications (LEED).
Skills in developing plans to reduce carbon footprints and environmental impacts, enhancing energy efficiency.
Project Management
Leading environmental engineering projects from initiation to completion, including budgeting and scheduling.
Managing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
Handling contracts with vendors, contractors, and third-party providers.
Regulatory Compliance and Environmental Standards
Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal environmental laws and standards.
Conducting audits and inspections for compliance verification.
Preparing documentation for permits, environmental impact reports, and management plans.
Data Analysis and Environmental Monitoring
Analyzing environmental data such as emissions and water quality to assess impact.
Utilizing monitoring tools like GIS, remote sensing, and sampling techniques.
Recommending corrective actions based on data analysis to mitigate risks.
