Lena kom aangestap in die voetpaadjie wat vlak verby die bloekombome loop. Sy het vandag 'n fraai rokkie aan waarop haar mamma 'n pienk rosie geborduur het. Sy neurie 'n vrolike liedjie .

Skielik blink daar iets in die voetpaadjie. Dis sowaar 'n slangetjie wat daar seil. Hy seil tussen 'n klomp bossies in en kom weer te voorskyn so 'n paar treë verder. Hy seil tot in 'n slootjie en lê dan stil.

Lena buk af om 'n blommetjie te pluk, maar toe sy regop kom, sien sy die slangetjie wat intussen verder geseil het tot by 'n boompie 'n entjie verder. Lena gee 'n treetjie agteruit en uiter 'n gilletjie . Dis nie die slangetjie wat haar laat skrik nie. O nee, sy is 'n dapper mensie wat al self 'n slang doodgemaak het. Sy het net in 'n dorinkie getrap en dit was baie seer.
