MEERVOUD

Dié van julle wat so bevoorreg is om op 'n plaas te bly, sal seker saamstem dat dit baie lekkerder is as om in die stad te woon.

Ek wens ek het gewoon op 'n plaas,

En nie hier in die stad se rumoer en geraas.

Dis baie lekkerder om te ploeg of te oes

As om in die besoedelde lug te hoes en te proes.

Die eerste winterreëns het geval en oom Jopie en al die boere in die omgewing het hulle ploeë aan hulle trekkers gehaak. Almal is nou besig om hul landerye om te ploeg. Die son bak vandag, nes die vorige twee dae , weer warm en die sweet blink op die trekkerbestuurders se voorkoppe . Hul hemde klou aan hul natgeswete rûe vas.

Oom Jopie het sy twee sleepwaens onder die klompie akkerbome getrek en 'n paar van die plaaskatte lê bo-op en slaap. So 'n paar treë daarvandaan lê die kolliehonde luilekker op hul mae en hap so nou en dan na 'n paar lastige vlieë . Hulle val ook kort-kort toe.

Alles lyk so rustig. Mense wat in stede woon, ken glad nie hierdie rustigheid nie. Daar woerts-warts die motors op die paaie en daar is 'n ewige geraas. Snags sien 'n mens nie eers hoe mooi die sterre blink nie, want daar is te veel ligte wat skyn.
