In this position, you will be a hands on Site Safety Manager in our new Mill. Our Mill was commissioned in 2020 and is the most technologically advanced dry corn mill in the country. This position is designed to support our commitment to safety. The ideal candidate for this role must have demonstrated experience in putting safety above all else, in work and in life, and have a track record of successfully leading initiatives that support the safety of all team members.

The Safety Manager reports to the Corporate Director of Safety and will be imbedded in our Milling facility. This manager will be an extension of the Milling leadership team. This role will support the location with a safety-first mindset. The safety-first mindset will be accomplished by implementing, maintaining, and promoting Didion's Three Safety Promises and company safety protocols/policies.

Successful candidates will conduct and support training, incident investigations, safety (gemba) walks and routine safety inspections to prevent accidents and ensure the overall well-being of all our team members. This position will spend a significant amount of time in the plant coaching, assessing potential hazards and driving continuous improvement in support of our safety vision.

Responsibilities include:


• Main responsibilities include Safety Management System implementation and support the development of it, compliance, document control, reporting, auditing, and data analytics


• Assist in the development of corporate safety programs, policies and training and deliver/oversee the implementation of programs in the Mill.


• Interface with People Leaders to ensure compliance with safety and health requirements.


• Develop safety training content, conduct qualification training, and validate training competency.


• Identify gaps in safety program implementation and training by analyzing incident data.


• Coordinate efforts with facility management teams to ensure safety policies and guidelines are being carried out while making recommendations for corrective and preventative actions.


• Attend safety (gemba) walks and inspections and provide recommendations for improving safety in the workplace.


• Investigate and facilitate root cause analyses on accidents and incidents.


• Maintain documentation of workplace safety procedures, accidents, and related events.


• Identify hazardous conditions/actions and recommend corrective measures.


• Assist with Management of Change on proposed modifications to equipment, raw materials, and processes.


• Participate on and guide direction of safety committee. Provide team with information for monthly meetings.


• Ensure frequent internal contact with all levels of personnel to obtain & furnish information.


• Supervise maintenance of OSHA log.


• Interface with regulatory agencies as required.


• Identify and suggest ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the safety department.

Required Skills and Experience:


• Bachelor's Degree Required. Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Safety Engineering, or Industrial Safety Management preferred


• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation or plans to become a CSP.


• Experience: 8+ years in a manufacturing environment preferably in agricultural, dry grind environment (e.g., grain, sugar, spies, coffee, whey, plastic, etc.), or chemical processes.


• Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, PSM standards.,


• Excellent written and oral communication skills.


• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective professional relationships with all team members.


• Strong organizational skills with proven ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines.


• Leadership skills and experience motivating and developing a team though constant feedback
