Job Details Participates in procedure room preparation and post procedure turn around.
Makes hemodynamic recordings, calculations, and interpretations.
Provides emotional support for patients and their family members.
Assists in inventory control.
Fosters teamwork and cohesiveness with team members and physicians.
Provides patient education and ensures patient comfort.
Assesses and documents patient condition and informs the physician of deviations from normal criteria throughout the procedure.
Understands and applies principles of x-ray generation and safety.
Demonstrates correct operation of imaging equipment.
Provides procedural assistance as a circulating tech, scrub tech, or monitoring tech according to cath lab policies and procedures and scope of practice documents.
May mix and administer some medications under physician supervision.
Performs point of care testing and QA.
May apply closure device, suture the sheath in place, or remove the sheath and apply pressure to obtain hemostasis at the end of the procedure.
Provides thorough and accurate documentation of each procedure and associated events.
Develops skills in operating, calibrating, and troubleshooting all equipment in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.
Maintains complete knowledge of cardiopulmonary pathophysiology, pharmacology, anatomic anomalies, and treatment options.
Has thorough knowledge of invasive diagnostic and interventional supplies, indications, applications, and proper use and deployment techniques.
Orients new CVIS I staff and provides direct supervision as a defined preceptor.
Provides staff education in Skills Day Workshops.
Trains staff on specialized equipment and procedural techniques.
Prepares for patient status changes related to procedural events and takes immediate appropriate action.
Job Requirements Two years of Invasive Cardiovascular Technology or Electrophysiology experience (excluding academic training or CVIS training).
Demonstrated proficiency in all CVIS I job duties without supervision.
Demonstrated expertise in performing complex diagnostic and advanced interventional procedures or demonstrated understanding.
Proficiency in electrophysiology procedures correlated with years of experience.
Maintains at least 20 hours of continuing medical education (CME) credits per year.
Must be competent in basic coronary intervention (completed skills pass off).
