Position Summary
Cabin Leaders are the primary caregivers for each camper, responsible for planning, teaching, coordinating, and carrying out activities while guiding campers in their personal growth and daily schedule.
Essential Functions Assist in the direction, supervision, and organization of campers in their cabin, within activities, and throughout the camp.
Apply basic youth development principles in working with campers.
Ensure campers are properly supervised at all times.
Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities.
Provide daily care for each camper, including recognition of personal health needs.
Ensure that campers receive their medications as directed by health care staff.
Be alert to campers and staff needs and assist them as necessary.
Monitor equipment and facilities for proper and safe utilization and maintenance.
Be a role model to campers and staff in attitude and behavior.
Follow and uphold all safety and security rules and procedures.
Set a good example in camp procedures and practices.
Contribute to verbal and written evaluations as requested.
Participate enthusiastically in all camp activities.
Deliver and supervise evening programs and special events.
Encourage enthusiasm in campers during activities.
Maintain the cabin assigned to you.
Prepare and present daily cabin devotions.
Develop and implement engaging cabin activities.
Observe daily reveille and curfew hours.
Complete weekly statistic and evaluation forms.
Working Conditions Cabin Leaders will be expected to know how to use fire protection equipment and specialty program equipment. Physical requirements include endurance for prolonged standing, bending, walking long distances, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Minimum Qualifications Must be 18 years of age or a high school graduate.
Personal Christian commitment and desire to share the Christian message with children.
Desire to work with children and ability to interact with them.
Ability to relate to one's peer group.
Ability to accept supervision and guidance.
Ability to assist in teaching activities.
Good character, integrity, adaptability, enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities Ability to communicate and provide necessary instruction to campers and staff.
Ability to observe camper behavior and enforce appropriate safety procedures.
Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to hazards.
Physical ability to respond appropriately to emergencies and maintain supervision of campers.
Education Preferred: High School or Equivalent
