Reporting to the Finance Manger, the Senior Accountant will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy of our accounting records and financial reporting. This position will perform a wide variety of accounting duties including but not limited to: preparing journal entries and account reconciliations, overseeing A/P and expense reimbursement processes, and providing detailed analysis of various general ledger accounts.

This individual will enjoy working autonomously on a variety of different accounting areas, and bring a broad knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and processes.

What you'll do:

  • Perform month-end close responsibilities (journal entries, account reconciliations, reporting and analysis, etc.)
  • Assist with Accounts Payable activities for proper approvals, invoice capture, expense allocations and ensuring timely payment of vendors.
  • Manage the expense reporting cycle and review reports for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to policy.
  • Prepare flux and variance explanations as part of the monthly close process for all areas assigned.
  • Participate in process improvements to streamline the close process.
  • Manage intercompany accounts and month-end confirmations across all entities.
  • Maintain fixed asset register and depreciation schedules.
  • Collaborate with different functional teams to continue to develop accounting processes and actively contribute to a disciplined financial statement close.
  • Assist with monthly use tax filings.
  • Liaise with other departments to analyze expenses
  • Compliance of quarterly tax returns and year end tax returns.
  • Maintain a strong internal controls environment
  • Assist with annual external audit, including preparation of audit request items and schedules.
  • Perform other duties as needed and/or assigned.

What you'll bring:

  • Solid organizational skills, strong attention to detail, including the ability to prioritize and multi-task to meet deadlines.
  • Intermediate Excel skills. Familiarity with pivot tables, lookup functions, and manipulating large data sets
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent people and communication skills. Team player who works well with others and who relates well to people at all levels.
  • Knowledge of IFRS/GAAP and basic accounting principles/procedures
