Registered Nurse RN Behavioral Health Emergency Department Full Time/Nights

LOCATION: Lancaster, PA

HOURS: Full time (36 hours a week). Night shift (7pm-7am). Rotating weekends and vacation. On call requirements.

SIGN ON BONUS: Up to 15,000 (prorated based on FTE), with 2 year commitment. Eligiblity rules apply, including 15+ months of RN experience. External applicants only.

We are seeking an experienced RN to join the Behavioral Health team in our Emergency Department.

Each day our Emergency Department-currently with 63 beds in main and fast care, mental health (10 beds), and the trauma bay-treats 300 to 400 patients with chronic and acute issues, ruling out life threatening conditions and intervening when necessary to stop the progression of acute processes. The team sees everything from sore throats, ear infections, lacerations and broken bones, to more serious conditions like stroke, heart attack, cardiac arrest, and traumatic injuries from motor vehicle and farming accidents, gunshot wounds and stabbings. Lancaster General Hospital, a Level I-accredited Trauma Center, is in the midst of an ED renovation that will nearly double the size of the department.

POSITION SUMMARY: Assume responsibility and accountability as defined by the American Nurses Association standards of nursing practice. The Clinical Nurse 2 Colleague is an RN that practices as a full partner on the health care team and consistently demonstrates

safe practice within the organizational professional practice model.

The Clinical Nurse 2 Colleague possesses the knowledge, skills and the attitude to effectively meet standards for competent professional nursing practice. The Clinical Nurse 2 Colleague exhibits Penn Medicine's experience standards which reflect its mission and are embedded in the professional practice competency domains. The Clinical Nurse 2 Colleague independently provides patient care through the application of the nursing process and accepts accountability for the nursing care of assigned patients. Assigned patients may range in age from infancy to the elderly.

The Clinical Nurse 2 Colleague demonstrates within the competency domains of Continuous Quality Improvement, Evidence Based Practice and Research, Leadership, Person and Family Centered Care, Professionalism, Safety, Technology/Informatics, and Teamwork.

The Clinical Nurse 2 Colleague works closely with the interprofessional health care team to facilitate the coordination of care across the continuum. The nurse focuses on expanding the knowledge and skills necessary to provide individualized care based on physical, psychosocial, cultural, educational, safety, and age-appropriate considerations of assigned patients.

The Clinical Nurse 2 Colleague seeks feedback in assuming leadership roles and provides feedback for improved clinical practice. The nurse demonstrates how nursing practice impacts the organizational vision, mission, and goals and the care delivery system. The nurse complies with all regulations and standards of regulatory and accrediting bodies.

Participates in process improvement activities with an emphasis on increasing continuity in the nurse to patient relationship, minimizing rework and redundancies; constantly seeks ways to improve processes, increase efficiency, finds solutions to current situations or develops new methods and procedures.

Completes mandatory education and training that includes review of age-specific needs, caring behaviors, and interpersonal skills as defined by unit based Plan for Provision of Care.

Maintains a safe working environment through compliance with established evidence-based practice policies and procedures and timely reporting of safety variances.

Projects pride in their work as exhibited in day-to-day interactions with staff, coworkers, patients and all those they come in contact with.

Participates in the on-call responsibilities for this position as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

RN licensure is required, issued by the PA Board of Nursing.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher level nursing degree is required. For Magnet designated RN positions, BSN or higher level nursing degree is required for incumbents based upon previously established parameters; or within two (2) years of placement in position for incumbents who started aft.
