Position Summary The General Manager of Marine Towing and Shipyards provides overall leadership for the day-to-day operations of our tug and barge division, ensuring smooth and efficient operation of our fleet while driving business growth, operational excellence, safety, and compliance. As the senior operational leader, the General Manager will coordinate between various departments, including logistics, fleet management, shipyard operations, and administration.
Roles and Responsibilities Operational Management Manage day-to-day operations of the tug and barge fleet, ensuring compliance with regulations.
Coordinate scheduling for loading, unloading, transport, and maintenance.
Manage shipyard operations, ensuring timely and quality repairs and maintenance.
Ensure proper fleet management, including maintenance schedules and performance evaluations.
Optimize logistics and route planning for cost-effective transport services.
Develop and manage budgets for fleet and shipyard operations.
Monitor and control operational costs to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Analyze financial reports to identify cost-saving measures.
Develop strategies to maximize revenue through service offerings.
Team Leadership and HR Management Manage recruitment, training, and performance management for crews and shipyard personnel.
Foster a positive work environment, emphasizing safety and teamwork.
Ensure employees are trained in operational safety protocols.
Safety and Regulatory Compliance Ensure compliance with maritime laws and environmental standards.
Implement safety policies and conduct regular safety drills.
Ensure regular inspections of vessels and shipyard.
Business Development and Client Relations Build and maintain relationships with key clients and stakeholders.
Identify new business opportunities and expand market share.
Manage contracts and pricing agreements.
Shipyard Management Supervise design, construction, repair, and maintenance of vessels.
Manage shipyard projects to ensure timely completion.
Ensure shipyard facilities are equipped for projects.
Maintenance and Logistics Manage maintenance schedules for vessels to minimize downtime.
Ensure shipyard equipment is maintained and operational.
Identify and assess potential risks to the business.
Develop plans to mitigate risks.
Prepare for emergency situations and implement response strategies.
Innovation and Improvement Stay updated with industry trends and advancements.
Implement innovative solutions to improve efficiency.
Encourage staff to identify and implement process enhancements.
Strategic Planning Develop strategic plans to enhance competitiveness and profitability.
Identify opportunities for growth and expansion.
Stay informed about industry trends to ensure competitiveness.
Reporting and Communication Provide regular updates on business performance and safety incidents.
Ensure effective communication within the team.
Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field, or 10+ years of experience in the maritime industry.
Master's degree preferred.
Experience Minimum 10 years of experience in the maritime industry, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
Proven experience in managing a fleet of vessels and overseeing shipyard operations.
Experience in financial management, budgeting, and cost control.
Experience in compliance with maritime laws and safety standards.

This position offers a salary range of $175,000 to $230,000 per year, plus a potential for a performance-based bonus.
