Must-Have:
- Provide care for surgical patients ensuring patient care, safety standards, and documentation according to AORN standards, recommended practices, and guidelines.
• Ensure appropriate supplies and equipment are available for patient procedures.
• Demonstrate effective listening, written, and oral skills to effectively communicate with patients, providers, and allied staff.
• Communicate promptly any abnormalities or pertinent information to providers and/or anesthesia providers.
• Maintain communication with RN & charge nurse as necessary to maintain efficient patient flow.
• Document the intraoperative phase accurately and clearly.
• Ensure supplies are available during the procedure.
• Update provider preference cards regularly.
• Maintain universal precautions and comply with all OSHA and safety guidelines.
• Handle surgical specimens properly and follow AORN standards in room setup, patient positioning, surgical site preparation, time-out protocol, and monitoring for breaks in sterile technique.
• Holiday coverage required.
