Position Overview:

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Jackson Purchase Medical Center values teamwork and effective communication to provide specialized care to critically ill patients in our 8-bed unit.

The ICU Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering direct patient care in line with the nursing process, meeting established standards of practice.

Administers medications, conducts specimen collection, and performs clinical treatments as part of the care plan.
Documents all patient care provided.
Monitors and communicates patient conditions to the healthcare team, patients, and their families.
Assists patients with daily living activities, such as hygiene and nutrition.
Collaborates across disciplines to ensure comprehensive patient care, including discharge and psychosocial support.
Acts as a patient advocate for their overall well-being.
Engages with families to support patient recovery.

Required Skills:

Excellent critical thinking abilities
Strong judgment skills with capacity to work independently
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-stress environment

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

Associate's degree required
Bachelor's degree preferred

Certifications:

Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire
Handle With Care (HWC) within 6 months of hire

Licenses:

Registered Nurse licensed in Kentucky.
Note: New Graduates may work under a KY provisional license for up to 6 months while obtaining their RN license.
