Quantity Surveyor

Job Overview:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor to join a team working on infrastructure projects and frameworks. While being ideally based locally, relocation support is available for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:
• Contribute to the creation of a safe working environment.
• Produce Subcontract documentation, including negotiating terms, conditions, prices, and programme.
• Manage subcontract works packages, including interim assessments of the amount due and subsequent change management.
• Issue all commercial notices to both the Client and Subcontractors, as required by the form of contract.
• Manage change in a timely manner, including the production and submission of Compensation Event Quotations.
• Produce, submit, and agree monthly applications to the Client, in accordance with the form of contract.
• Liaise with operational and engineering teams to ensure site records are kept to the required standard.
• Produce detailed monthly reports and Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) as required.
• Produce and maintain a detailed ‘Cost Plan,’ tracking and forecasting expenditure, including detailed schedules of Subcontractor liabilities.
• Interpret and critically evaluate expenditure reports produced by internal cost systems.
• Attend weekly progress and risk reduction meetings with clients and subcontractors.
• Apply the principles of ‘Doing the right thing’ to maximize value and profit, and assist estimating and bid teams with contractual expertise.

Required Qualifications and Skills:
• Good understanding of standard forms of contract.
• Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Excel, Word, and Contractual and Cost Management Systems (CEMAR, Oracle).
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Solid knowledge of construction processes.
• Excellent time and outcome management abilities.
• Professional qualification such as MCIOB or MRICS, ideally Incorporated member, working towards full membership (desirable).
• Relevant degree and/or experience in a commercial environment.
• Experience with large single or multiple smaller schemes.
• CSCS qualification (as appropriate).
