Our client a well-respected and reputable membership body based in Central London is currently looking for an Accreditation Officer.

The Accreditation Officer Role

To administer technical assessments and quality assurance of planning education on behalf of the Higher Education Manager, and to provide advice and guidance on accreditation and careers to universities and planning students including pathways into our membership.
To assess university degree programmes for accreditation or professional recognition and to collect, process and report accurate and detailed records on student data and accredited course information.

Key Responsibilities

  • Secretariat (policy advisor) role to our Partnership Boards with education institutions in the UK, Ireland and internationally:

    representing the membership organisation, providing supportive scrutiny of accredited planning education and supporting the management and maintenance of relationships with industry partners and universities.
  • Providing advice and clarity on our policy, processes and procedures to education institutions in the UK, Ireland and internationally.

Assess the operational and academic requirements for the effectiveness of the memberships accredited education institutions in the UK, Ireland and internationally.

Assess the quality of planning undergraduate, postgraduate and/or other qualifications in accordance with the memberships accreditation and assessment criteria.

Manage requests from new universities interested in our accreditation, including guiding them through the process, reviewing full submissions for accreditation, acting as the policy advisor for accreditation visits, and liaising with the university with feedback.

Develop and maintain personal understanding of planning and the built environment to be able to scrutinise the content of the accredited courses and to identify and confidently raise issues at Partnership Boards and with academic staff at other points in the year.

Provide training on our accreditation assessment policies to our members and volunteers and the Partnership and Accreditation Panel.

Administer an annual data return as necessary and other reporting processes required of our accredited education institutions and undertake analysis of student numbers and other data in line with our Corporate Strategy priorities.

Ensure accredited course information, guidance and careers materials and website content remain up to date, interesting and relevant for students, Members and volunteers.

Respond to queries on education and careers matters from students, universities, careers advisory services and employers efficiently and accurately.

Promote and present our accreditation and pathways to our membership to students, graduates and careers advisors at accredited universities and non-accredited institutions.

Maintain relevant records, including expenses records, and databases as appropriate.

Contribute to the development of education research, data collection, surveys and policy briefings for relevant committees and the Executive Team, as well as drafting and circulating papers, and taking minutes as appropriate.

Undertake such other duties, commensurate with the post, as directed by the line manager / Head of Service.

Experience & Qualifications

Experience of managing projects successfully, Experience of organising and prioritising work effectively, Experience of working within a professional institute, university or accreditation body, Experience of supervising volunteers, Experience of writing for the web and social media, Experience of presenting to large groups

Knowledge

Educated to degree level or equivalent experience, A good understanding of the tools and techniques needed to undertake quality assurance assessments, A good understanding of higher education provision and accreditation,Postgraduate qualification or equivalent, An interest in the built environment, Knowledge and understanding of the Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and how they apply to the role

Skills

Ability to build and maintain good relationships with key stakeholders, Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to adapt style to suit different audiences, Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy, Good administrative and analytical skills, Ability and willingness to travel to meetings or events through the UK and Ireland occasionally out of normal working hours
