Job Summary
Due to expansion and development, an exciting opportunity has arisen in our therapeutic childrens home for the position of Registered Manager.
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Manager to oversee the operations of our Therapeutic Children's Home, whilst working alongside our Therapy Team to provide therapeutic care. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in residential care, including experience in therapeutic care.
The job role will require a high level of delegation and people management, ensuring that our high standards are maintained and the children have a safe and nurturing environment to live and thrive. Working with children and young people aged 5 to 17 years old with social, emotional and complex needs, offering them a home in which they can feel appreciated, acknowledged, safe and have the opportunities to progress and develop in all areas of their lives.
This role requires exceptional leadership skills and a commitment to providing high-quality therapeutic care.
You will lead a team of up to 15, including RCW's and Senior carers, operating the PACE/Therapeutic Parenting model, providing high-quality care and incorporating real family values in a residential setting.
About the Role
Joining an established organisation that provides residential, clinical support to children and young people.
Home is based in Nottinghamshire.
Management of a service designed to provide therapeutic support for children who have experienced developmental trauma, attachment difficulties and emotional behavioural difficulties.
The home supports children aged 5-17 who have a background of complex behavioural needs, complex trauma, attachment difficulties.
Managing a 4 bedded home.
Work and report into SMT, ensuring services meet company standards.
Full-time, permanent contract.
What We Require from YOU
• A Good or Outstanding grade within your recent Ofsted Inspections
A minimum of 2 years management experience in a childrens residential setting and at least 12 months holding an Ofsted Registration.
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management within a Residential Childcare Setting (or equivalent)
A full understanding of the Ofsted Regulations shown within working practice. An understanding of Trauma informed practice and PACE.
Extensive experience working with children, being able to look beyond their emotional and behavioural difficulties and the presentation of complex behavioural needs, developed through childhood trauma and attachment disorders. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with residents, families, and carers alike.
Demonstrates an extensive knowledge and understanding of all current regulation and legislation relating to childrens residential care, including Regulation 40, 44 and 45, with the ability to apply them effectively into their working practice.
Good knowledge of the Social Care Common Inspection Framework and its recent amendments.
A person who can evidence their awareness and passion to safeguard children, not only in their day to day life but has the ability to confidently risk assess and plan their care, promoting the childs needs alongside their views, wishes and feelings.
A proven track record in the leadership and development of the staff team, ensuring that they have clear vision and goals, based around the purpose of care.
Has strong values and beliefs, showing honesty, integrity, and good character always.
Evidence of experience working in liaison with multi-disciplinary teams and within a Therapeutic Model of care.
Duties and Responsibilities
• To work collaboratively with Senior Management and other Departments to achieve high performance, exceed quality standards and deliver unmatched levels of support to children and young people.
To Manage the budget effectively and in line with company financial policies.
To take the lead and support with all regulatory inspections, ensuring actions are met prior to, and following, inspections. Manage the day-to-day operations of the care home, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices. Liaise with families, healthcare professionals, and external agencies to ensure coordinated wrap around care and multi-agency working. Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with legal requirements and organisational policies.
Leadership and People Management :
To lead by example and develop effective carers within the Home.
Develop a positive working environment which nurtures and rewards good practice through a programme of training and development.
Provide regular supervision and annual appraisal to Senior care workers, and care workers in line with Company procedures and standards.
To ensure good quality working relationships are built and maintained between staff and the young people they are supporting.
Ensure attend a range of meetings, to include weekly childrens meetings and weekly carers meetings.
Work with other Manager/Directors to ensure the recruitment and retention of staff with a positive value base and therapeutic approach.
To work as part of the rota system.
Health And Safety:
Ensure the home meets H&S regulations and guidance
Partnership Working:
Maintain effective links with the our HR department, and Health and Safety agencies (Peninsula)
To work with the homes therapy team to create and implement therapeutic care plans for the young people.
Maximise effective partnerships with mainstream and specialist services e.g. Health, Education, Employment, Leisure etc.

Skills & Experience (Essential)
Experience of working in a therapeutic residential childcare setting
Clear understanding of the Ofsted regulatory framework
A commitment to delivering high quality care
In-depth knowledge of EBD, PACE, Therapeutic Parenting, Trauma informed care and other complex/challenging behaviours.
Hold a current UK Driving License with access to a vehicle which can be used for business purposes.
