Oracle Database Developer

Summary/Objective

The Oracle Database Developer will design stable and reliable databases, to ensure our database systems run effectively and securely on a daily basis.
An individual in this role will be responsible for developing, testing, improving, and maintaining new and existing databases to help users retrieve data effectively.
The Oracle Database Developer will work closely with developers to ensure system consistency, in addition to collaborating with administrators and clients to provide technical support and identify new requirements.

Essential Functions/ Responsibilities

1. Design stable, reliable and effective Oracle databases
2. Optimize and maintain legacy systems
3. Modify databases according to requests and perform tests
4. Solve database usage issues and malfunctions
5. Liaise with developers to improve applications and establish best practices
6. Gather user requirements and identify new features
7. Develop technical and training manuals
8. Provide data management support to users
9. Ensure all database programs meet company and performance requirements
10. Research and suggest new database products, services and protocols

Education and Experience

1. Proven work experience as a Database developer with Oracle versions 11gR2 to 19c
2. In-depth understanding of data management (e.G.
   permissions, recovery, security and monitoring)
3. Knowledge of software development and user interface web applications
4. Java experience required
5. Oracle Real Application Clusters experience required
6. Hands on experience with SQL code and how it works with Java code
7. Familiarity working with .Net Framework, JavaScript, HTML and Oracle
8. Excellent analytical and organization skills
9. An ability to understand front-end users requirements and a problem-solving attitude
10. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with documentation teams
11. BSc degree in Computer Science or relevant field

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers and smartphones.

Physical Demands

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position.
Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, during normal business hours.
Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

Little to no travel is expected for this position.
