Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to fill one (1), English essential GLMAM09 position on an indeterminate (permanent) basis in Petawawa, Ontario. A pool of partially or essentially qualified candidates may be established through this process and may be used to staff identical or similar positions at the Department of National Defence.

Information you must provide

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications):

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:

Successful completion of an Electrical Power Generation Technician diploma program
Or
Electrical Generating Systems Association (EGSA) or Electrical Generating Journeyperson Certification
Or
Possession and completion of a certified generator technician program from a major manufacturer

EXPERIENCE:

1. Experience in the operation and maintenance of electrical generating systems ranging from 2KW to 1.7 MW.
2. Experience in the operation and maintenance of diesel, Gas and LP electrical generating engines, electrical control boards, transfer switches and ancillary components.
3. Experience operating and maintaining load banks.

Conditions of employment

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

1. Reliability security status
2. Must maintain a valid Electrical Generating Systems Association (EGSA) or Electrical Generating Journeyperson Certification
3. Must possess and maintain a valid class 'G' driver's license issued by the Province of Ontario or provincial or territorial equivalent.
4. An acceptable driver's abstract provided within 30 days of request, dated no earlier than 30 days prior to the request.
5. Must be willing to obtain and maintain a DND 404 driving permit.
6. May include but not limited to wearing Personal Protective Equipment used in a construction/maintenance environment, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, bending, pulling and/or pushing, grasping, reaching, stooping, and crouching, sitting, reading, writing, color determination, speaking and listening, and working in hot and cold environments for extended periods of time.
7. Willingness to travel to undertake training as required.
8. Willingness to be on a standby or a call-in list and asked to respond after hours within one hour of being called in.
9. Willingness to work overtime including weekends
10. Strict adherence to the Department of National Defence and Canadian Forces Code of Values and Ethics, Values and Ethics Code for the Public Sector, Directive on Conflict of Interest, and Defence Administrative Orders and Directives (DAOD) 7021-1, Conflict of Interest.
