Under the direction of the Manager of Nursing and Health Sciences Programs, the position will be primarily responsible for the instruction of courses in the Pre-Health Sciences program, and other courses in the Nursing and Health Science Programs of Nunavut of Arctic College, or in other divisions as required.

The Pre-Health Instructor is responsible for providing university level, college level, and general level health sciences preparatory education to learners in the Pre-Health Sciences program.

In collaboration with faculty members and under the direction of the Program Manager, the incumbent develops and delivers classroom and laboratory instruction and ensures that student needs and college program criteria are met by:

• Preparing lesson plans, learning objectives, course outlines, and developing curriculum.
• Delivering lessons using a variety of instructional strategies.
• Recommending and participating in program reviews, development of curriculum, and curriculum revisions.
• Ensuring that course materials are consistent with the latest and most current theories and knowledge.
• Assessing learners' performance skills before and after teaching.
• Fulfilling supplementary duties related to overall program delivery, as delegated by the Program Manager, Nursing and Health Sciences, including learner recruitment and orientation.

The Incumbent Must

• Hold a generalist Baccalaureate degree with credits in Math, Organic or Biochemistry, and Human Biology.
  A Science Master's Degree is preferred.
• Have specific understanding and experience of adult instructional skills, preferably in cross-cultural environments.
• Have at least one year experience classroom teaching or equivalencies.

This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check, is required.

The official languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English, and French.

Fluency in more than one of Nunavut's official languages would be considered an asset.
Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut, and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
