In this role, you will lead the architecture, design, and technical direction of a small, fast-moving team with the backing and stability of an established company.
You have broad experience in technical delivery and taking responsibility, along with a willingness to lead, learn, and adapt as required.
This is a unique opportunity with significant real-world scale.Your first mission will be to rebuild a core legacy system from the ground up using modern technologies.

What you build here could change how thousands of people experience care.If you are ready to take on this challenge and make a meaningful difference, we encourage you to apply, even if you do not meet all the qualifications.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesLead the architecture, design, and hands-on development of entirely new systems and productsDrive the modernization effort by understanding the legacy system end-to-end and guiding the migration from legacy systems to a clean, modern architectureIdentify what to rebuild, what to retire, and how to do it efficiently and sustainablyContribute to the code base and code reviews, setting the tone for engineering excellenceHelp produce new implementations, making them reliable, maintainable, and ready to scaleEnsure seamless integration with existing platforms and products used across Teladoc HealthSupervise and support a small, focused team of frontend, backend, and automation engineersWork closely with product team to turn ideas into clear strategies and successful executionCollaborate with teams across the organization to explore, prototype, and prove out technologies that will shape the future of careOwn and evolve CI/CD pipelines to support fast and reliable deliveryThe time spent on each responsibility reflects an estimate and is subject to change dependent on business needs.Qualifications Expected for Position 10+ years of experience building scalable, mission-critical distributed systemsProven expertise in software architecture, system design, and technical strategyDeep experience with Java and Spring Boot with a strong focus on building scalable, cloud-native systemsStrong proficiency in React, React Native, or similar modern web/mobile frameworksAdvanced knowledge of relational databases, including schema design and performance tuningExperience with Azure or other major cloud platforms and cloud-native developmentHands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practicesExpertise in designing and scaling microservices architecturesFamiliarity with event-driven systems and tools like KafkaSkilled in data modeling, ORMs, and data management best practicesProven ability to lead technical teams and drive engineering initiativesExperience modernizing legacy codebases and managing large-scale system migrationsExcellent communicator and collaborator across cross-functional teamsStrong technical leadership skills and stakeholder management while working in an ambiguous environmentNice to Have Familiarity with Domain-Driven Design principlesExperience with Ruby on Rails, GraphQL (legacy system)Understanding of FHIR or other healthcare interoperability standardsFamiliarity with Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI)Background in regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, finance, government)Contract Details:
