Aktiwiteit: om ‘n positiewe gesindheid teenoor die omgewing en natuurlike hulpbronne te kweek [lu 1.3, lu 2.3]

1. Die mens se invloed op die ekosisteem

Daar is 'n voortdurende wisselwerking tussen die mens en die ekosisteem waarin hy woon. Die wisselwerking kan aan oorlewing, asook aan die mens se pogings om sy lewenstandaard te verbeter, gekoppel word. Somtyds slaag die mens daarin om sy omstandighede te verbeter, maar in die proses die ekosisteem te versteur.

Tot onlangs het die mens gedink dat natuurlike hulpbronne onbeperk en onuitputbaar is. Vandag besef ons dat ons heeltemal verkeerd was.

Die mens versteur maklik die omgewingsbalans van 'n onbewoonde gebied. Die mens moet dus strewe na harmonie in die natuur deur die omgewing te herstel en te bewaar. Ongelukkig kan hierdie verantwoordelikheid eers nagekom word wanneer die mens die regte gesindheid teenoor die natuur openbaar.

Leeruitkomste 1: Die leerder is in staat om met selfvertroue op weetgierigheid oor natuurlike verskynsels te reageer, en om binne die konteks van wetenskap, tegnologie en die omgewing verbande te ondersoek en probleme op te los.

Assesseringstandaard 1.2: Dit is duidelik wanneer die leerder ondersoeke uitvoer en data versamel.

Leeruitkomste 2: Die leerders ken, interpreteer en pas wetenskaplike, tegnologiese en omgewingskennis toe.

Assesseringstandaard 2.3: Dit is duidelik wanneer die leerder inligting interpreteer.
