Key Responsibilities of a Flight Nurse - Providing Compassionate Care in Critical Moments
What You'll Do:
Uphold professionalism at all times, maintaining a compassionate and respectful approach with patients, families, and colleagues.
Communicate with warmth and integrity, fostering a positive and collaborative team environment.
Respond promptly to patient needs and inquiries, ensuring that care is delivered efficiently and effectively.
Conduct thorough checks of equipment, medications, and supplies at the beginning of each shift and post-flight, guaranteeing immediate readiness for patient care.
Collaborate seamlessly with multiple agencies, emergency responders, and healthcare facilities, demonstrating diplomacy and teamwork in high-pressure situations.
Adhere strictly to all federal, state, and municipal regulations, including HIPAA, EMTALA, and OSHA guidelines, ensuring the highest level of safety and compliance.
Maintain all required certifications, continuously striving for excellence and professional growth.

Essential Qualifications:
Licensed Nurse - Must hold a current, unrestricted nursing license in the state of operations, maintaining certification throughout employment with Classic Air Medical Aeromedical Services, Inc.
Critical Care Expertise - A minimum of three years in a high-acuity critical care or emergency department setting (1,600 hours/year minimum), ensuring strong clinical judgment and advanced patient care skills.
Advanced Certifications - Must maintain certification in:
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
An Advanced Trauma Course (ATLS, TNCC, BTLS, TNATC, or ATCN)
Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Life Support (PALS)
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
CCRN, CEN, or CFRN within one year of hire
Unwavering Compliance & Integrity - Must adhere to all scope-of-practice protocols and state regulations, ensuring the highest standards of professional conduct.
Physical Readiness - Must weigh less than 215 pounds fully dressed at the time of hire and maintain that weight to ensure optimal safety and performance in flight operations.

The Physical & Communication Skills That Make a Difference
Acute Observation & Attention to Detail - Ability to read labels, assess patient conditions, operate monitors, and identify critical equipment and supplies with precision.
Clear & Effective Communication - Frequent interaction with patients, families, and medical teams in high-pressure situations; must be able to hear, understand, and respond quickly to verbal communication, alarms, and urgent needs.
Manual Dexterity & Technological Proficiency - Skilled hands and fingers needed to operate delicate medical equipment, document patient care, prepare medications, and utilize computer systems efficiently.
Physical Strength & Mobility - Must be capable of lifting and transferring patients while maintaining proper body mechanics; ability to bend, lift, and carry supplies and equipment of varying weights, including heavier items.
Agility & Adaptability - Required to walk, assist in patient transport, and maneuver equipment through busy rooms, tight spaces, and unpredictable environments. Often involves pushing/pulling gurneys and portable medical devices.
Endurance & Stability - May need to remain in a stationary standing position for extended periods while providing patient care.
