Position Overview:

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Jackson Purchase Medical Center values teamwork and effective communication to provide specialized care to critically ill patients in our 8-bed unit.

The ICU Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering direct patient care in line with the nursing process, meeting established standards of practice.

  • Administers medications, conducts specimen collection, and performs clinical treatments as part of the care plan.
  • Documents all patient care provided.
  • Monitors and communicates patient conditions to the healthcare team, patients, and their families.
  • Assists patients with daily living activities, such as hygiene and nutrition.
  • Collaborates across disciplines to ensure comprehensive patient care, including discharge and psychosocial support.
  • Acts as a patient advocate for their overall well-being.
  • Engages with families to support patient recovery.

Required Skills:

  • Excellent critical thinking abilities
  • Strong judgment skills with capacity to work independently

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • Associate's degree required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred

Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire
  • Handle With Care (HWC) within 6 months of hire

Licenses:

  • Registered Nurse licensed in Kentucky.
    Note: New Graduates may work under a KY provisional license for up to 6 months while obtaining their RN license.
