Hitachi Rail Honolulu JV (HRH) is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Associate Track Inspector to work on our Honolulu Rail Project. Your ideas for continuous improvement and creativity are welcome. The position is based in Pearl City/Honolulu , HI .

Accountabilities:

Inspect railroad track structure, stock rail, special track work, turnouts, and 3rd rail for compliance with railroad and project standards, state regulations, and FRA Track Safety Standards.

Plan and execute periodic inspections to ensure optimal coverage of the railroad track.

Perform walking inspections and report on conditions, defects, and necessary repairs.

Identify issues with signaling and telecommunication equipment and report findings.

Detect deviations, assess severity, and coordinate remedial actions with the Track Manager.

Assist in repairs or direct crews to address track-structure defects.

Conduct special inspections during severe weather or other damaging events.

Produce detailed inspection reports and communicate findings clearly.

Enforce applicable rules, regulations, and policies.

Operate and coordinate testing carts and equipment to evaluate track deviations.

Lead safety meetings and provide on-the-job training for track employees.

Operate rerailing equipment or supervise its operation.

Investigate train accidents or derailments, determine causes, and assess regulatory compliance.

Share knowledge of inspection standards and practices with team members.

Perform additional tasks to support system operations and build customer relationships.

Work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required by the project.

Qualifications:

Associate's degree in construction/business management or equivalent experience preferred.

At least 5 years' experience as a railroad track inspector or in related roles.

Knowledge of railroad construction, maintenance, testing, and inspection techniques.

Understanding of safety criteria and FRA standards.

Experience with FRA or non-FRA track inspection.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

Physical effort required, including standing, stooping, bending, and crouching.

Walking on uneven surfaces in various weather conditions.

Exposure to noise, grease, dust, and outdoor elements.

Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and climb on/off equipment safely.

Strong communication, planning, and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe PDF, and maintenance management systems.

Willingness to work flexible hours and travel as needed.

Valid driver's license; CDL preferred.

Benefits:
Hitachi Rail offers a comprehensive benefits package including competitive pay, medical/dental/vision insurance, disability, life insurance, retirement plan, paid vacation, and training opportunities.

The salary range is $72,480 - $108,720, with final pay based on experience and other factors.
