As a critical member of the organization, you will be charged with developing innovative strategies to engage current and prospective major donors and institutional funders to advance Hillel International's resource development efforts.
In this capacity, you will directly manage frontline fundraisers and oversee the strategic philanthropy team, which is charged with engaging new leadership donors and the ongoing stewardship of current foundation-based funders.
You will be responsible for identifying, engaging, and adding new institutional investments, diversifying Hillel International's funding sources to include new gifts from high-net-worth individuals, and managing event-based giving.
You will be charged with developing a slate of engagement opportunities for Hillel International's major donors, including parlor meetings, national summits, and leading the development of a bi-annual stakeholder track at Hillel International's Global Assembly.
What you'll do :
Fundraising and Relationship Management
The development and effective implementation of an integrated and sustainable fundraising plan that will generate short and long-term results for major and principal giving at Hillel International.
Deepen and diversify Hillel International's funding base by adding new foundation-based funders as well as high-net-worth individuals capable of making six- and seven-figure gifts.
Work closely with senior leadership to articulate the case for greater philanthropic investment in Hillel International, with special emphasis on new donors, noting the significant growth of investors in Hillel's work over the past 18 months.
This role requires being well-versed in Hillel International's current and emerging priorities and matching them with specific donor and foundation interests.
Personally develop and maintain a portfolio of 25-40 donors making (or capable of making) six- and seven-figure investments in Hillel International, creating meaningful relationships with current and new donors to advance Hillel International's overall fundraising effort.
Oversee the effective and timely submission of requests for funding and the development of all grant reporting, working closely with department leads and finance to execute on timely, well-developed grant requests and reports.
Manage the fundraising plan for executing annual fundraising events.
Coordinate efforts with the VP of Advancement to align on strategies emerging from the field and / or in the benefit of campus affiliates.
Strategy and Team Management
Manage the strategic philanthropy and donor engagement teams, and partner effectively with key teams in the external affairs pillar, including Philanthropic Planning and Services, Planned Giving, and Marketing, as well as the Community Partnerships team, to successfully drive Hillel International's resource development goals.
Develop and execute effective strategies to engage programmatic departmental leads who oversee significant fundraising goals and manage key relationships.
Create methods to keep the right team members informed and engaged in the organization's fundraising efforts.
Collaborate with the Philanthropic Planning and Services team to maintain appropriate campaign planning tools and reports that provide needed fundraising insights and advance overall fundraising goals.
Partner with this team to ensure productive use of moves management to help implement development strategy, closely monitor key leadership giving metrics and respond accordingly, and work closely with all staff to leverage the CRM to support fundraising goals.
Partner with the CEAO, CEO, and other key staff on their development efforts, including setting strategy, establishing appointments, and overseeing and managing stewardship activities.
What you'll bring :
Our ideal leader will be an intuitive planner with a demonstrated ability to set priorities and develop and implement thoughtful, clear, and action-oriented growth strategies.
They will have the vision, capacity, experience, and network to successfully lead Hillel International's fundraising efforts while also fostering a collaborative approach to development that maximizes the team's strengths.
The following qualifications will be key to success :
A minimum of 12 years of experience leading all aspects of development, including demonstrated success in securing major individual gifts and foundation / institutional gifts.
Passion and commitment for Hillel International's mission and vision; intellectual savvy and tenacity with an entrepreneurial spirit tempered by sound judgement.
Proven success in building and maintaining relationships with donors and foundation teams, and most importantly, asking for and closing major gifts.
Demonstrated management skills in increasing the effectiveness of staff through established objectives, performance standards, and quantifiable benchmarks.
Masterful at crafting compelling development materials, both written and visual, including pitch decks, grant proposals, and reports.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey Hillel's mission and vision to drive increased investment.
The ability to dream big while paying attention to the details and executing at all.
What you'll get :
Competitive salary in the nonprofit marketplace.
