Salary: The hiring salary for the Maintenance Worker II is starting at $26. 95 an hour. The full pay range for Maintenance Worker II is $26. 95 - $31. 44 - $36. 48.

About the job:

The Facilities Management Department is seeking a dedicated and skilled Maintenance Worker II to foster excellent service and support for our campus. This position represents a promotional opportunity for those looking to grow within SAN and take the next step in their career.

We are looking for someone who is solutions-driven, detail-oriented, and committed to providing responsive, high-quality maintenance support in a dynamic environment. The ideal candidate is a dependable team player with strong technical skills in facilities maintenance.

What you'll do:

Skilled Maintenance: Performs routine-to-skilled duties with maintenance and repair of construction, concrete, sidewalks, driveways, monuments, curbs, gutters, asphalts, lots, maintenance and repair of physical plant, public works infrastructure, and facilities. Assists craft and trade personnel such as electricians, HVAC technicians, carpenters, painters, plumbers, and maintenance mechanics with welding tasks and metal fabrication.

Inspection & Safety: Monitors and inspects work performed by others and contractors. Ensures compliance with safety standards and regulations. Participates in the development and implementation of preventive and predictive maintenance standards and schedules. Recommends special work or equipment maintenance. Responds to emergency situations.

Equipment & Tools Operation: Operates light- and medium-duty motorized maintenance and construction equipment including forklifts, trucks, trailers, aerial lifts and pavement and street sweepers, hand and power tools. Relocates office furniture.

Technology & Records: Operates computer, creates and access records, time cards, and work orders. Effectively utilizes computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). Attends meetings with departments and performs related duties as assigned.

Vehicle Operation
• : Drive and operate Authority vehicles to job sites and multiple locations throughout the Authority campus. Transport essential equipment for projects and repairs.

Project Management - Strong organizational skills and ability to complete assignments within expectations. Ability to deliver targeted results to specification, at cost, and on schedule. Must be flexible to work the second or third shift including weekends and holidays.

Relationship & Interpersonal Skills - Demonstrates collaborative interpersonal proficiency to engage teams and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels within and outside the organization. Exhibits consistency and reliability; demonstrates awareness of others.

Leveraging Technology - Effectively uses and generates information electronically and integrates technology solutions and systems.

Requirements

The Experience You Need to Have :

Maintenance Worker I may be considered for advancement to Maintenance Worker II after demonstrating proficiency to perform the full range of duties in the assigned section or trades area.

Preferred Education, Certification, and Licenses:

Maintain a valid driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the Authority's vehicle insurance policy.

Successful completion of a fingerprint-based background investigation, training, and testing required for employment and operation and operation of Authority and San Diego County physical security, surveillance, radio and telecommunications equipment.
